Does it flow water and stop, yes. It took lots of teflon tape to make it not leak and I didn't want to over tighten because it's all plastic. For the money, there are better options.

It is a good design. However needs to have a metal hose connection. The plastic threads strip out to easily.

I bought this to replace a previous rubbermaid float valve. This one has an extension where the hose screws in to the valve. The previous one had stripped from screwing a metal hose end into plastic. It now works great with a quick release hose adapter!

Worked great until my horse pulled on the hose and it broke off at the screw placements now it can’t be reattached .. broke too easy.

All the tank floats that I've purchased over the last 50 years have done the job, but every one of them leak where the hose connection is made. Every one of them. The plastic ones end up cracking and the aluminum ones corrode and eventually rot away. The Rubbermaid tank float is designed for the Rubbermaid stock tanks, but work on the metal tanks as well. The hose connection is on the side and works well with any hose. So far they have not leaked and so the water pump does not run continuously. A big savings just in electricity and no muddy stock tank area.
