First off, I want to say that when I bought this card I was doing a complete hardware upgrade, so the board I initially used it on recognized it so I never went to look to see if it worked. I could barely plug any usb devices in the slots because I guess my case slots aren’t wide enough? Anyway, new Mobo comes in a few days later, put it in, fresh windows 10 install, device errors. So I’m going through troubleshooting with all new SSD, RAM, CPU, etc can’t get it to boot. Finally unplugged this, got it running, installed and device error. Constantly crashing whenever I managed to get a usb plugged in and saying no drivers, no power, etc. open case, unplug, reseat, check plugs, try again and hardware failure on boot. PC won’t load windows, check bios.I spent 3 months trying to get it to work. Still can’t get anything to fit in the connector ports, if I do, it fails and tends to crash my whole system. I would have returned it but I don’t want to open the case again. I thought maybe I shorted it somehow, but after reading the reviews saying similar stuff, I see it’s not an isolated case.Update 3/6/23. I had continual problems with startup failure and so many other issues that when I added an upgrade part, I pulled it out and trashed it. Computer hasn’t had any problems since.

My new PC came with 6 usb ports which would seem plenty but as anyone knows these days everything connects usb to a desktop so external blueray drive, headphones, mouse, keyboard, camera, plus about 4 other items on it needless to say I ran out of ports fast. Bought this plugged it in and Microsoft automatically had it working (way to go Windows). Then I decided to try the driver they provided and OH BOY. The driver was glitching the usage of the usb card one moment it worked the next it didn't. It even effected things like Watching Youtube or Twitch. I uninstalled the driver restarted and let Windows reinstall its driver and perfection was back an I have no complaints now. If you need a USB card get one like this one and just put it is but please don't use the driver disk unless Windows doesn't find one for it.

The PCIE USB hub would be good if it were actually functional. There isn’t enough room for a USB to be plugged into it! It’s because the USB ports are horizontal rather than vertical. This needs to be addressed in the instructions. A specific measurement of how thick the support beams can be should be given. The construction quality feels superb; install was easy.

I'm running this in an ASUS Z8PE-D18, easy install no problems. I used it as a boot device with no problems with the following operating systems: Linux Mint 19.1, Proxmox 5.3, and OSX Mojave (hackintosh). The only con I have found is I can't boot off of any of the USB ports on this unit. Some of these legacy devices act as a SATA controller giving you one extra SATA port, this one does not. You will absolutely need to use up one of your motherboard's SATA ports to get it to run properly. It is not required that you plug in the SATA power, unless you want power to the USB ports for charging a device.

The supplied driver comes on a CD, which isn't always available these days. Luckily, VIA supplies the latest driver to their chipsets online. URLs aren’t allowed in reviews but you can google “via-labs driver” for official driver downloads from VIA’s site (VIA_XHCI_Driver_V5.60B_AP.zip).That said, the card itself is great. It's a quick way to add a bunch of USB 3.0 ports on the cheap. On the downside, I had to buy a Molex to SATA power adapter, because my system was too new to have any Molex - quick fix, but just something to be aware of. Additionally, the vertical orientation of the ports might clash with your specific back plate on your case - the top edge of some of the ports may be blocked depending on which slot you put it in (I put mine on the very top, where my case causes a slight obstruction to one of the ports), but this isn't a huge deal considering I still have 6 ports at my disposal, and could just move it to another slot if it bothered me enough.Great purchase either way, just please stop putting drivers on CDs in 2019.

Plugged it in and it worked fine. No issues, no problems, no drivers needed on Windows 10.Update 4-9-2018 - I use this card for real-time transfer of Hi-Res audio from computer to a DAC interface. I was noticing a few small glitches every once-in-a-while. So, I did install the drives for this card (which are included ) and it's been rock-solid ever since. For regular USB use the card worked fine on Windows 10 without installing any specific drivers. If real-time transfer of gobs of data is is required, I recommend installing the included drivers.

This card works well. I needed it for a slim profile tower and this card gives you 3 external ports instead of the usual 2. There is a sata power connector that you really should connect for better stability, especially with higher power devices. This card is a VIA Labs chipset and I downloaded the drivers directly from VIA Lab's web site as they are more up to date than the manufacturer drivers. The driver also includes a utility to switch modes between normal and UASP or Turbo modes for storage devices that support the faster mode. I tested UASP with a drive and Turbo mode with some others and it all worked well. I've attached a 802.11ac 2x2 wifi adapter, hard drives, SSD drives, sd card reader, all with usb 3.0 connections and they all worked flawlessly and at full speed. I also tried several usb 2.0 devices and those worked perfectly as well.
