I got this to try to upgrade an otherwise cheap snare for a practice/secondary kit. Snare wires aren't even and some hang away from head when tightened to cause a lingering rattle/buzz sound with every hit.Spend a little more and get something else

First thing first the soldering job is terrible it's way too thick so the wires don't touch the head properly. no matter how much you tighten the throwoff. You should totally save your money for more expensive wires.

Few wires stay high over drum head even when fully tightened at max, causing unwanted non-stop noise. Few soldered end of wires have spike that punched & damaged my drum head. Can not use it. Very Poor workmanship!

It's just ok, wires are not the same length = instant rattling (sympathetic buzz). 3 of the outer wires were clearly looser than the rest before I put it on and the tabs were not quite parallel. You can't expect too much at this price point; it does the job of giving you the wide snare sound. In my case it lowered the overall pitch of the drum compared to a 15-strand strainer. For the money it's fine but if I were recording I would probably want a better quality brand. Still a good experiment to see if I like the sound of 40 strands without breaking the bank (I don't love it).
