For the past 2 years I’ve been using an Allen wrench to place these plugs. I’ve had to cut them down to make them fit, I’ve accidentally put other holes in the solar panel. When I got this kit, the plugs go in much easier. The kit is a little spendy, but now I know it’s worth it.

I was a little skeptical of this product. However, I tried it on my pool solar heater that sprung a leak and it does indeed work! Some complained there are no directions, just lookup some directions online, or watch a video online. Another reviewer recommended using pvc cement to lubricate the plug as you slide it in, I liked that idea because it would seem to seal the plug in once it dries. No leaks for me so far!

My panels are getting older and get leaks occasionally. It's odd that the leaks are always very close to the ends of the tubes. As for the tool, it does the job, it is somewhat flimsy and pricey, you have to take your time cutting into the tube, I did slip on one of them and cut the next tube. You could go to a hobby shop and get a small wood gouge for probably about $3 and use a small allen wrench to push the plug in, but, they packaged it so you pay. Overall, if you take your time and don't put too much pressure on the knife it does a good job. I've gone through the first bag of plugs and am ordering another. I did put some silicone around the plugs as some have suggested and have had no problems with any of them. May not be needed, but gives a good peace of mind

I love how easy the product works. Cut in about 20+ plugs and stays sharp - no corrosion.. no mis-cuts or incidental damage. no more leaks which is the best part. The panels were damaged in almost a dozen places by negligence. This kit saved paying another $200 per panel replacement. Was a good deal.If I could offer one suggestion, find a way to incorporate the insertion tool inside the handle of the cutting tool so it all goes together when stored. Other than that It works perfect.

There were no directions as another customer already noted. That was frustrating. Should be easy to put a one sheet instruction sheet with tools. However, once you have the panel in front of you it is pretty easy to figure out.I see where many folks mentioned to use some type of lubricant (soapy water, etc). I used PVC pipe glue and it worked great. I figured it was a good lubricant, as well as, i was able to turn the system on five minutes after putting the plugs in. (I had read where someone had the plugs pop out since they were not dry, that is why i tried the glue)Worked great!!

I have to admit I was skeptical about this product but I purchased it anyway and I am glad. This product is not for the lighthearted or for those than do not have some technical skill about them. Yes you have to get on the roof and you have to carefully cut in to your sun panel the tube that is leaking at the top end and the bottom end. Outside of that I found it quite simple, I got tired of paying the solar panel people 140.00 each time my panel sprung a leak for the 15 minutes they spent fixing it. Bottom line I did the cuts used some soap inserted the plugs and the next day turned on the panels and no leaks it has been at least a month now and still no leaks.

Product fine. However, used to come with handy storage tube which held and protected all parts. Now have to keep everything in cardboard shipping box.
