I opted for the aluminum version of this tripod adapter because I thought it would be stronger and thus better able to withstand wind gusts, especially since there's only a 1/4" machine screw that secures the magnetic base I bought to use with this adapter. But as others have noted, the hole machined into the adapter does not align with the hold-down screw in the Starlink Mini mount -- it's off by ~2mm. You can force the screw in, but then it's the threads on the screw taking most of the forces and not the much larger 2" mounting ring as the Starlink mount was designed for. I tried a few different solutions before I settled on cutting a short length of steel rod that I inserted into the machined hole in the mount. The end of the hold-down screw then jams against that rod and securely locks the adapter to the mount. Maybe others won't be as fussy as me, but my Starlink Mini lives on the roof of my Land Cruiser and I don't want it blowing away in ocean breezes or wind storms.Update: The seller reached out to me and apologized for the lapse in quality control that affected the placement of the screw hole and offered to refund my money. But overall this mount is made from high-quality anodized aluminum, which is what attracted me to it in the first place, and it fits into the Starlink mini mounting hole well. And since I found a simple solution that works for me I didn't feel right about getting a refund for something that I'm going to keep using. So I said "no thanks" on the refund and instead decided to up my rating from 3 to 4 stars because I felt the seller when above and beyond what many other sellers do here on Amazon and thus deserved to be recognized for the extra effort they made. Fits perfectly and is very durable. An excellent addition to your Starlink Mini, which I also highly recommend. Amazing tech for travel and emergency communications use.
