Iron is 0.070 inches thick, 2-1/8 inches wide and 2 inches long. Iron made from hardened tool steel hardened and tempered to Rockwell 55-60. Bevel ground to 25 degrees. Iron will need final honing to achieve a razor sharp edge

I bought this as a replacement blade for my antique Stanley 151. The blade was a few thousandths wider than the original Stanley 151 blade it replaced but the simple solution was to file the spokeshave body with just a few strokes to eliminate any binding. The blade back was fairly flat and it and the bevel only required a few minutes work to sharpen and polish up. The metal seemed to be harder than the original blade and sharpened up nicely to a razor edge. The adjustment and tightening features worked perfectly and the tool now sings through the work as well any of my plane-style spokeshaves.
