I put on it soup, aluminum trays, Pyrex pans. It keeps food warm to the touch and eating, but that’s about it. A minute after you take it off it’s already not hot enough to serve.Big disappointmentWhile it may be safe and has a hechsher, it doesn’t do the one thing it’s supposed to do.

After having purchased my first TechYid Warming Tray from the original funding campaign many years ago, I'm finally replacing it with the same thing. Safety is paramount for me; I have known of too many homes destroyed by poorly wired hotplates that were not intended for 25 hours of use at a time. The TechYid product was developed by an engineer who also knew of too many such fires and sought to create a safe machine. Mine performed reliably over all these years. Although some reviews indicate that the heat is inadequate, I found that it slow-cooked reliably at a good temperature until the last couple of uses when it was finally dying. The surface cleans as well as any other stainless surface, once food is burnt onto it--a bit of oven cleaner and scrubbing does the job. The fact that I'm buying a second TechYid blech, after researching others on the market says it all.

I previously had a TechYidCo "blech" - which started shorting due to the internal wiring. Got the new version. The new version only has a 2 prong outlet (meaning that it is not grounded). The plug and wires also seem less robust (ie: seem less well insulated).I called Kosher Innovations (makers of this product) and they confirmed the change.

I love this hotplate for being built with safety as the first priority. Yes it’s more money than others but after my last hotplate burned out on YT, that was the end of those crappy made hot plates.This hotplate takes time until the until itself gots hot enough to heat up good so take that into consideration if using a timer. It gets the food pretty hot. It also depends on the density of the food and whether the food is covered or not.

The hot plate was working great for a few months but then in middle of this past shabbos stopped working leaving me no way to heat up food on shabbos. Still can't can't get it to turn on so now its garbage. Fortuanley after speaking to manufacturer they will be sending me a replacement, hopefully last longer this time

This is just what it promises: a good blech / plata / food warmer for Shabbat / the Jewish Sabbath. It does get pretty warm, but we use a second piece of metal on top and it's never been too warm. Just bought Techyid blech #2 because #1 failed after 3.5 years of more than weekly use. Ours is on a timer and works great. Recommended for a safe way to heat food without traditional heating appliances.

Using it t for four months and I love it. Very sturdy. No more hassling with crockpots which are too hot or too cold to do the job of warming. I cover the food to keep it moist. If I'm reheating and concerned about anything drying out I can put down some aluminum foil first. This shabbas warmer is super versatile and easy to clean and the electric cord is obviuosly heavy duty and has an auto emergency shutoff in case something gets too hot..so no fears of starting fires. Thank you for this it's wonderful to have perfectly heated food on Shabbas! If I had a large family I would definitely buy two. One is perfect for four people.
