Installed this unit in my F250 Super Duty 4 wheel drive pickup as a replacement for a 20 year old controller. It was literally plug and play. Test drive pulling a 2 horse trailer had the unit working perfectly with no changes being made. Really like the self leveling and the proportional braking. It’s like the trailer is a solid piece of the truck.

I installed the OEM rear connector harness myself and it is simple plug and play with one existing screw for the ground wire which is difficult to reach... . The only thing I needed to add in my 2006 was a Trailer relay $10-$20 on amazon and I had all 7 connectors working! I had to also get a mount and 7 pin connector that has a OEM plug for my RV. As to the brake controller, I got a this one that plugs right into the front and install was easy too! all lights work great and the breaks worked great after adjusting them with the dial! Simply roll on flat ground and use first the manual lever to se if it works then adjust the dial until you feel the trailer braking truck in neutral, then just use the breaks and listen for the trailer hitch clank when it starts breaking itself and the truck. it is ideally adjusted when you brake the truck and it feels like nothing is in the back :) hope this helps...

I drive a 2000 Ford Excursion pulling a 27 foot TT that weighs about 8,000 lbs loaded. I needed to replace my old controller. I had heard a lot of good things about this Prodigy controller. They are all true. It is essentially plug and play. I just had my son pop off the old controller and attached this one to the same holes and plugged it in to the existing harness. Calibrating the braking was easy enough and the instructions were clear. I like being able to see what is happening and the additional boost control is a nice feature.

This brake controller was very easy to set up, mount and use. It works very well and is very adjustable. I onw three trailers, ranging from 8 feet to 32 feet. Once you have the numbers figured out, it is a simple dial adjustment, then off you go! I leave it installed permanently, but you could easily remove it between uses. I would have no reservations about recommending this controller.

I installed this in a 2004 ford explorer, I saw a video on U-Tube and followed those instructions, My install was a simple "plug and go" as the vehicle has factory installed trailer/towing package. there are three stages of brake pressure, I use the first stage, my trailer being 1700 lbs. When I pull to a stop I find it better not to ride the brakes as I get a surging when I get almost stopped, Now I just drive up and stop. the brakes/trailer braking system make this vehicle stop better than with the trailer attached than without the trailer attached. The instructions for installation are pretty basic once you have your wiring set up. took me less than 30 minutes to run the adaptor wire over the console to the unit that I installed just above the gas pedal.

This works as advertised and is easy to setup if you purchase the cable designed for your vehicle.Only received 4 stars as opposed to 5 due to length of cable, would be nicer to have longer pre-made cable (or a choice of lengths) to enable mounting in more easily accessible location.
