I wasn’t sure if I could install this myself, so I got a customer mechanic to come over to my house & installed it in about 15 Minutes using the harness.

We were on a trip in Florida when our old controller started failing. We ordered the P2 from Amazon. It came in to Key West in a few days. It was easy to put in. All required parts just plugged in, and fit perfectly. No issues at all. Really glad I got it.

Ok, after using this thing for 8 months, I have to say this is one of the best products I have ever purchased on Amazon. I thought it was a bit pricey (but what isn't these days?), but I bought it and tried it out and I am not disappointed. Here are the features and performance I really appreciate:- having the manual toggle to modulate only the trailer brakes when setting is awesome. You can really tell how much the trailer brakes are braking at a given output without having the vehicle brakes activated. This makes setting the gain so much easier.- The dial wheel gain setting works flawlessly.- The multiple aggressiveness mode select allows nice customization of the gain for loads and driving preferences.- The digital readout is great for seeing how aggressive the trailer braking is under different conditions.- The internal accelerometer does a fantastic job of modulating the braking effort based on speed and rate of slowing.- Mounting and installation was a snap with the included harness that matched my truck perfectly. I did end up making the harness longer because I wanted to mount the controller on the center console. Just my preference and not absolutely necessary.Overall, this thing was easy to install, easy to set after a quick read of the instructions, and performs flawlessly for my 20 foot, 7,500 lb auto hauler. If you are looking for an electric brake controller, this one is a dandy.

I put this on my pre-wired '04 Toyota 4Runner. I have the towing package and got the Tekonsha pig tail for the under dash connection. There are instructions in the package but Tekonsha has a YouTube video that is detailed and easy to follow. I mounted the unit on the right, just below the ignition, using the tray that lets you remove the P2 when not in use but there is also one that keeps it in the SUV. I ran the cable over to the left kick panel (removed following the video) removed a bolt and attached the ground wire, then plugged into the cable just above the kick plate. Plugged other end into the P2 and used zip ties to secure the cable out of the way, under the dash. The included instructions tell you how to set the unit and what the displays are. I didn't have any trouble understanding but I suggest you use a quiet road (like subdivision street) when your trailer is attached so you can get the feel of the brakes and how they respond to the different settings. I have a 23' Airstream travel trailer and my adjustment is about 5.8, like the picture. All in all, pretty easy to install and configure. It was highly recommended in the Airstream forum and the previous owner of my Airstream said that's what he had used from the start and was happy with its performance.
