It really worked and I cut a limb that was 50' feet up from the ground. I could not have done this before without hiring someone at $300 for the two limbs I was able to cut down.

Merely getting this thing in place is a challenge for stuff 20’ high or more. And once you finally get it in place, the higher it is the harder it is to orient the cutting teeth to the limb, and the rope tied to each end stretches so much it reduces your cutting stroke to maybe 5-6 inches. Forget about trying to get it in place if there are any other branches/limbs/twigs near the one you want to cut.But the steels is good and the teeth are sharp and it didnt rust being left out in snow & rain for over a week- that was impressive.

The saw works surprisingly well and quickly for the size. I would have preferred if the blade were not pre tied onto the rope since you’re supposed to put the blade in the little container to keep it from rusting. I had to remove the rope and attach it to two of the little metal connectors so it could be easily removed from the saw. The hardware all seems to be pretty good quality except for the slingshot. That was not as good as the rest of the kit. It does work, but it’s pretty cheaply made.

Great package, comes with everything I needed to get to work. I used a Pool Brush to help get a the rope over a couple of limbs with lots of small branches around where I wanted to cut. But this saw cuts great, easy to use...just be patient and try to let the saw do the work for you.I took down several 5 Inch Oak Branches and it's still sharp.Good Package with the right stuff, and a good product - appears to be quality. Love the handles!

The product claims to have cutting teeth on both sides of the chain. The chain that was included with my Arborist kit only has teeth on one side. Pretty slick trying to pull a fast one."The Pocketech's Arborist Rope Tree Climbing Kit - 48 Inch Long High Limb Hand Chain Saw Kits - 62 Teeth-Blades on Both Sides for Arborist Equipment, Climbing Rope, and Climbing GearClim"

Bad design. Not many cutting teeth on each side. Takes a long time to cut limb. Throwing bag splits apart. Save your money get longer chain that cuts on one side only (more teeth).

Despite not following the instructions strictly, I – a woman of average height and strength - used the Arborist Kit by PockeTech to take down a small limb that was about 20 feet off the ground. I was all set to pull out the “Premium Slingshot” depicted in one of the product pictures and try to snag the limb that allows squirrels to access my roof. Unfortunately, those photos must be for the accessory “Hyperion kit” that isn’t included. The Arborist Kit contains two nylon weight bags instead. Not being the best at throwing, it took me about twenty attempts until I made the perfect throw over my branch. Unfortunately, the weight of four golf balls in the weight bag wasn’t enough to keep the nylon rope from snagging on the oak bark with the weight dangling in midair. I had attached the weight to one end of the 30’ pull rope with the saw attached to the other end, so I flipped the rope up and down, getting the weight to fall a little farther, until it was necessary to hold the saw itself. At that point, I got a step ladder and a grabber to pull the weight down and thread the saw across the limb. After that, things went pretty well. I tied loops in the pull rope at about shoulder height for the handles and secured them with the included carabiners. The handles are great – cushioned and easy to grab. The branch was only about an inch across, so I was working alone. It would have been easier with a second person to saw as the instructions recommend, but I spread my arms as wide as possible to get a flatter angle and took care when the branch started to give to saw a little more to the side. The instructions warn about being hit by the branch, but it is important to also beware the saw, which will fall with the branch. Of course, if you work with two people, you can stand well to the side and the branch and saw should fall between you unless you’ve just given it a tremendous yank. The blade did bind a little, but I was able to work it out by continuing my sawing motion with different angles. This was exactly the project I had in mind when I ordered the kit, and I was very happy that the whole process, from unpacking the kit to clean up (having read the instructions previously) took only about twenty minutes. In addition to the saw, attached pull ropes, handles with locking carabiners, two throw weight bags and an aluminum carabiner to attach them to the ropes, there were a number of other items included in the kit: a belt bag that is just big enough for the blade, a “medium” storage bag, extra locking carabiners to attach the handles, two medium and two small locking carabiners (not sure what these are for, but they are nice 😊), a 50-foot tension line for larger limbs, a plastic case for oiling the chain, a blade sharpener, and a heavy duty roll-and-clasp bag for the whole kit. There’s a discount price at the moment, which makes the kit a great deal, but even the regular price of around $40 seems fair for the quality and extras.
