This block has some "heft" to it. It's a tad small for large hands, but this size and kind of block has always been.I cut some cheap sandpaper and put it in the block and it held securely.The flaps are easy to raise, the nails are sharp and pierce paper and wayward thumb fine.I like this block in that the rubber is "live" and has give to it and not hard. The bottom is smooth, no issues with flatness. There is no chemical ododr from the block. It appears to be the same rubber as some more expensive blocks.It's rare to get products that are exactly like the tools from years ago. This one is.
