Alright, sharpen up your senses because we're about to dive into the comedic world of maintaining your grindstone's figure with the Tormek TT-50 Truing and Dressing Tool. This isn't just any tool; it's the personal trainer for your grinding wheel, ensuring it stays round and flat like a pancake in a Michelin-starred restaurant.First off, let’s talk about the setup. The TT-50 is like that friend who shows up at your house and instantly makes himself at home. It mounts and locks onto your Tormek system quicker than you can say "abracadabra". No fuss, no muss - just instant gratification for your stone. Now, using this thing is a breeze, or should I say, a smooth grind? The dual knobs are like the perfect dance partners, allowing you to waltz the diamond cutter across your stone with the grace of a ballerina. And the best part? You don't even have to thumb wrestle with it. Just turn those knobs with both hands, like you're conducting an orchestra, and voila! Your stone is now as flat as the Earth was thought to be back in the day.But wait, there's more! The TT-50 isn’t just about keeping your stone in shape; it's a magician too. With a slower feed, you get a surface so fine, it’ll make you question if you're still in your workshop or if you've accidentally entered a spa for stones. And if you're in a hurry? Crank up the speed for a coarser texture that’ll have you grinding like there's no tomorrow. The precision of this tool is like having a Swiss watchmaker for your grindstone. The cutting depth is set with the Micro Adjust on the Universal Support, which might sound fancy, but trust me, it's as easy as setting your alarm for a Monday morning - only this time, you'll wake up to a perfectly round and flat stone. And let's not forget about the durability. Made with cast zinc, this tool is the Hercules of truing tools. It minimizes the play, ensuring your stone doesn't get any unwanted grooves or divots - because who likes a stone with a bad hair day?In conclusion, if your grindstone has been hitting the gym too hard or slacking off with uneven wear, the Tormek TT-50 is the hero you need. It's the one tool that’ll keep your stone looking sharp, literally and figuratively. So, if you're tired of your stone being out of round, get the TT-50 - it's the only way to ensure your stone stays as flat as a comedian's punchline.

I couldn’t afford the Tormek system so after reading many reviews and watching many YouTube’s I decided to try the comparable Jet model at about 1/4 the price. I like the Jet sharpener a lot and have experienced great results with it on all of my bench chisels, mortise chisels, lathe chisels, carving chisels, and plane blades. But I quickly wore a groove down the center of my grinding wheel and realized I needed to resurface and true it up. I then read the reviews for the more expensive Jet truing tool and saw most of those reviews were one star and reported the diamond coating on the unit wore off after about five minutes. One of the reviewers suggested getting the less expensive Tormek truing tool instead, so I did. I used it today and was astonished that in about one minute worth of work, my grinding wheel was perfectly trued and smooth the groove gone. I’ll be looking at other Tormek jigs now. Thank you for a great product, I wish your grinders were more price friendly.

I have a wen sharpening system and needed a way to true up the stone. I figured getting a tormek product would be the best solution. But once cry once sort of thing, since I'm on a budget. The alignment slot that goes on the tool rest post couldn't reach fully. When I had it aligned on the post, it wouldn't reach the other side of the stone fully so I had to just crank it down a little more and move it off of the vertical post. It also jumps around like crazy when going over the stone. I don't know if that's because I can't have it secured on the vertical post or not. I saw some videos of people using it on an actual tormek and they were having the same issue. Some people said to hold pressure on the part that goes across the stone to keep it from jumping around. But I feel like even though it's not vertically aligned like intended, it shouldn't jump around like that. I don't know. I'm new to all this stuff so maybe it's user error. But I'm sure with a little ingenuity I can find a way to make it work. I just wish that, for the money I paid, I would be good to go

This little tool is good at what it does. I watched both this Tormek and another cheaper tool on YouTube. This seemed much easier to use, and so it proved to be, although it was more expensive. It took two shallow ( about.1mm ) passes to achieve a flat, round stone. It’s now the best it’s ever been. It’s expensive for a tool that wii be used infrequently but there’s no alternative. The side that screws to the cross bar has a wedge shaped hole and locks firmly into place. There is no play in the thread but a little in cutter holder and it does vibrate if you don’t take it slowly. Overall I recommend.

Arrived today and immediately used it on the Grizzly T100010 wet grinder wheel. With no micro adjuster, it has to be carefully set by hand but I found that to be quite easy. I started the cut and immediately backed off to double check the depth of cut. It looked perfect. Completed the cut and no second cut was required. The wheel looked perfectly round and flat. After thinking about the micro adjuster on the Tormek Grinder, I think a simple modification to the Grizzly support is to cut threads using a die on one leg of the Grizzly support and then insert a nut into a disc for the adjustment wheel. You can measure how much the support is raised and lowered in one complete turn of the wheel, then mark the wheel with the corresponding increments.I plan to do this and will update this later with the results.I cut the threads onto the support leg closest to the wheel using a UNF 1/2-20 die. I tried to find a knurled flat nut with matching threads but I was only able to find one in coarse thread 1/2-13. You can buy the Tormek one separately but you then have to match their threads. So I ended up using a standard 1/2-20 zinc coated steel hex nut and inserted it into 1.125 inch diameter disc made from 1/2 in plywood. I now have a Grizzly T100010 with a micro-adjustable support.
