Good size, good balance, good ergonomics. Sharpens well.

Tramontina usually makes really good stuff - I have a couple of stainless steel pots of theirs that I really like. So I was hopeful for this knife; sadly at least this 5-inch model, is just OK.On the plus side, the blade is a nice length for small chopping jobs, it has the Santoku ridges in the sides that let it release food, and its nice and sharp. The big negative is the handle. As you can see from the picture, its nowhere near as large as other 6" knives I own. Its actually about the size of a small paring knife handle. And its got hard, squared off edges. So overall, its really uncomfortable to hold and use. Its also a little dangerous if you ask me as there is a large gap between the bottom of the handle and the blade so you have to be careful to keep your fingers tight against the blade...

I have a selection of these Tramontina professional series knives. They are a great example of why you don't need to speed a ton of money to get an excellent knife. They hold their edge for a long time. They have a good weight and balance and are very sharp. I'd recommend these knives to anyone, they are an incredible value for the price

The knife is well built, razor sharp, and comfortable in the hand. It’s a good knife at a descent price. I’m glad I bought it.

My husband really liked this knife at a condo in Virginia so much that we had to order one for home.

Extremely happy! Perfect match for the rest of my knife set purchased many years ago at Sam's Club. Replacement for my abused chef knife with a broken tip. Was concerned that the photo supplied during shipping did not match the Amazon page, but it was just a poor photo. Matches the design and quality of my original exactly, arrived sharp, easy to keep that way, very happy with the purchase and delivery!

I have a set of tramontina knives that I purchased in 2008 that have never needed sharpening, and I was expecting the same quality. This knife is sharp and only time will tell if it never needs sharpening. However, the parts of the metal tang and rivets that come into contact with the hand are roughly finished, and I sometimes feel as if I'm going to get a metal splinter. This is a large chef's knife - too large for most everyday needs in the kitchen.

If you want a knife that is really sharp, this is it. Bought a set of paring knives from Costco made by Tramontina. I liked them so much I and to Amazopn to find a larger knive from Tramontina. This is excellent German steel. You won't be disappointed.
