Cable works like it should, and let me connect my old 15in 4:3 VGA LCD monitor to my work computer for use as a 2nd display as the video card in it lacks a VGA port but has DVI.Would a DVI to VGA adapter have worked hanging off the back of the video card? Yes, but I feel this cable gives a more clean look, along with a more secure connection then an adapter, and VGA combo, so the price difference was worth it for me.

Had to return - didn't work with my KVM switch. Probably not a fault of the cable and likely my cheap quirky KVM switch.

Exactly what I needed to break out the analog signal from my HD 7870's DVI-I port to my 1909W's VGA port.Tested up to 1440x900@75Hz with no noticeable distortion. This cable doesn't have very much use these days, the only real purpose is to connect your graphics card's "hidden" VGA port to a VGA-only monitor, for example if you're gaming on a CRT and don't want the latency of a sketchy 3rd-party converter, or you're on a super budget with a 2002 thrift store monitor without DVI input and want to keep things simple.Theoretically this could be used to extract 10-bit color from an otherwise 8-bit advertised monitor, however, due to software+hardware limitations (my GPU's DAC is only 8-bit) I have been unable to confirm this.

Does not work with modern digital monitors, do not buy. If your monitor supports analog DVI (DVI-I), then this cable might work -- but for modern, hi-resolution digital LCD monitors, this cable is useless.I wish the listing were made clearer -- they even say, "ideal for digital signage", but it does not work with any digital signal. This item cannot be returned, so it is only money and time lost.

Very pleased with this cable, as it works as expected and advertised. The video quality on my new monitor is amazing. I accidentally neglected to verify if the monitor had a DVI port so after it arrived I realized I couldn't connect it to my docking station (port replicator) which has only DVI and HDMI. This cable is very affordable and I was able to easily connect the monitor to the replicator and BAM! Video output. Easily recommend.

I purchased this cable to go from a monitor to my laptop. Simple right? The problem is that the VGA end doesn't fit too well on my laptop. I was able to juggle around another DVI->VGA cable that I had and use this one on my desktop computer, where the VGA connector juts out a little bit more and it seems to fit better. So overall, the cable works fine, I would recommend it for a computer where the VGA female juts out a bit from the computer (in my case, a desktop), because it did not fit my laptop.

Purchased it to accommodate a very old monitor to an upgraded computer. The VGA to VGA connection was no longer a viable option. The cables work just fine and satisfied my need.

High quality molded 'D' connectors, excellent data transfer from PC video DVI out to television sVGA in.Great price and value. TRIPP LITE cables were used when I was a DoD QA/Reliability engineer and never failed testing.

I bought two 15" AOC monitors on Newegg for $60 each. It was a good deal but the downside was that the monitors only had one VGA port on it. My graphics card has a VGA, an HDMI and a DVI port so I bought this cable to connect both monitors, one using a regular VGA and one using a DVI to VGA. Everything works the same, In fact, my main monitor is the one that is connected to the DVI port and works fine. There is not visual difference from my perspective and does the job. I believe that this cable will not work to convert the other way around (VGA to DVI) but I'm not sure, so buy it at your own risk.
