These wedges look fine, but the plastic they are made from is weak. Every time I hit them, a piece would break off. It was lucky I was wearing safety glasses.

Excellent value and durable. I did take a small chip off of one while hitting it. They seem to be very durable and strong. I am very happy with the purchase and product. I would definitely buy again

Weak tree wedges. I’ve shattered 4 of 6 on ONE tree. It’s an 8” oak, cut my notch then did my back cut and slid the shim in and started sledging it. Within 4 hits it shattered. So then I used the little wedge instead. Shattered. Went back to a big one cause now I’m stuck. Cut deeper notches. Shattered. They don’t have the strength. Looks like inferior plastic was used and poorly designed. Just a note. I’ve used my other single wedge for 3 years with no issues doing bigger things than this. But I lost it last year and needed a replacement. Do regret.

Summary: I believe in using the right tool for the job. But if that means carrying a hammer/axe just to drive wedges, I might make an exception to that rule.Recommendation: Been using these for some heavy tree felling. A 10-inch wedge works well in both wedge and driving (hammer) applications. I used one to wedge over a 12-inch trunk, I had both 12-inch and the 10-inch in use. Cuts well too, shaved the tip on one of them (oops). Common sizes are 6, 8 and 10-inch. Also used to drive my stump vise in. The heavier weight (compared to a 8" or 10") means it doesn't vibrate as much driving these. I generally prefer the 8" and 10" wedges over the 5.5" size.Pros: Good fit and finish. Nice bright color.Cons: UNCO offers 90 products, and this is the only tree felling related item (offered in 3 colors), but no other products are tree felling related.Conclusion: At $12 for six wedges, rating these 4-stars (non-specialty).

Idk if it was just me or these are not the best but I was felling a tree and the wedge kept breaking on me!

We need to take down a dead pine tree, but my boyfriend doesn't want to do it by himself, of course, and is hoping his brother will fly down to visit. They've felled many trees together. My boyfriend wanted this set of UNCO- Tree Felling Wedges with Spikes, 5.5" & 8", 6 pcs., so he had it available just in case his brother surprised him. When he looked them over, he said, "Good hard plastic; should hold up to many strikes with a heavy hammer." He particularly likes the larger 8" ones, as opposed to the small 5.5" size. He also appreciates the drawstring storage bag to keep them all together. I'm giving this product 5 stars for now and will revise if the quality doesn't hold up when they get used.
