we traded more power via two fans for noise. A good trade given our culinary uses but the noise is noticeable. Works just fine although the touch screen takes some patience.

Great sleek looking range hood. Easy to install with the included cardboard template, template even has punch outs for screw hole and top/side venting, so you can easily mark everything up to make mounting a breeze. The hood has 3 speed fan settings and an on/off for the bright led lights. Operation of the controls can be accomplished either with the touch of a button or the wave of the hand. Noise is comparable with other kitchen range hood, under high setting, the fan moves a good amount of air. The range comes with two large washable grease filter/screen. The two filter almost covers the whole bottom of the range hood, this is good for trapping a good amount of grease before it needs to be cleaned. Two non dimmable led lights provides ample lighting. This range has a nice delay off feature where when you are done cooking, you can press the off button and it will shut down on its own after a few minutes.

I got this range hood to replace my old one, which was original to the house when we built it in 1999. To say we were overdue for a replacement is an understatement. And what a replacement the VIKIO HOME Range Hood has turned out to be! Definitely an upgrade over my original hood. First, the stainless steel hood looks amazing; polished, professional, modern. The upgrade lies in the power of this fan and the brightness of the lights. It's a misnomer to say "fan", when in fact, this unit has two very powerful fans under its hood. The default on position is with the fan at high speed, which is powerful enough to clear your entire kitchen of smoke and fumes. To adjust the fan speed, you simply tap the fan button to set it to medium, or low speed. At the top speed, the fan is not just effective, but a little noisy; it's a tradeoff because I guess with power comes engine hum. The lower fan levels - which to be honest, are the ones I will probably use most often - have a reasonable noise level, though I wouldn't call them "quiet as a whisper" necessarily. Tapping the light button activates two quite bright LED lights which give you more than enough light for your cooking surface. I wish there were a way to dim the lights as I sometimes use it as a night light of sorts, but it's either off or on, no settings in between. I must also mention that the panel is very responsive and responds to even the slightest touch. The hands-free button enables the gesture control mode, by which you can turn the unit on and change the fan speed or shut off the light just by waving your hand in front of the sensor panel. I found the gesture control to be hit or miss; I'd wave my hand in front of it and it either wouldn't respond at all, or would jump from the lights to the fan and I found it hard to direct. I think I have to play with it a little longer to get a true feel for how it works, but the idea is a great one. I am hoping I can figure it out with more experience.Installation went fairly well, taking my husband a couple hours to remove the old one and install the VIKIO range hood. The instructions were good and it came with a template to help with installation. I noted that this hood is ever-so-slightly smaller in width, despite it being listed as a standard 30" width. While my previous hood was a 30" width and it fit from cupboard to cupboard, the VIKIO leaves a tiny gap on either side. This doesn't really bother me, but it may bother some, so it's something to be aware of. Also, the corners on this unit are completely square, which also means they can be sharp. Working over the stove and raising your head into one of the corners might prove to be a painful experience. Just something to keep in mind. Slightly rounded corners here might have mitigated that concern.Overall, I am overjoyed with this new range hood. It looks fantastic and performs extremely well. I'd recommend it to anyone looking for an under-cabinet range hood.
