My laptop has 2 USB ports - 1 of which I use for the laptop stand with a fan in it. This is one of the best things I've bought for my laptop as it allows me to keep working without my computer over heating, utilize flash drives, charge my phone, import photos from a camera, and more simultaneously. Lightweight as well so it's easy to travel with.

So, the external power adapter not only sends power downstream from the host to attached devices but also upstream to the host computer. The power it is send upstream to my PCI-E bus was so strong that my computer was unable to power down or power cycle when the external power was plugged into the hub. The hub should only be sending external power downstream to the devices attached to the hub - not back upstream to the host computer. I leave the external power adapter unplugged as I worry it will damage my computer. I have never seen a hub (unless it is a PD charging hub) that sends power from the external power upstream to the computer. I do not know if I am going to keep this hub for that reason alone. So, keep this in mind when plugging into your system.

Great product plug and play instantly. Has a port for 5v but dise not come with power adapter. Works fine without it not going to be doing serious charging from it though.

I bought the KSG-400 version, and it's working great, getting expected speeds, etc, so I'm giving it a 4. I'm docking a star because I find it a little odd that this version (4 port 3.0 usb hub) has a DC 5V connector to make it powered, but it did not come with a power supply, nor any documentation as to the amperage it would take if I used my own.
