My Promaster van has quite a number of pre-punched hexagonal holes in the frame and walls. They were apparently designed for this very M8 fitting. They fit *exactly*, snug but not overly tight, and once compressed with the right tool, make a very strong stout structural attachment point for M8 bolts/screws. While rivet nuts work perfectly fine, and are easy, if you have hex holes, these are extra strong and provide additional resistance to spinning when installing or after.
