If you can't use lopers in cutting down small trees, this saw is wonderful. It's easy to use and sharp as a razor, so be careful.

Excellent for plastic, able to cut in tight awkward spaces; flush cuts etc. Will always on one now.

I go out of my way to buy these blades. I have a hard time finding them, thank goodness for Amazon. I have a field full of hawthorne trees...a thorny apple with nasty thorns but the birds love them for food and the blooms are amazing so I keep them The trees grow prolifically and I always need to prune in really difficult positions. Saw blade doesn't not last forever...maybe half of one season of heavy use on many trees but it makes the job so easy. Way better than Corona and I love Corona saws. It is just that the Vaughn construction blade is superior to anything I have ever used. I have also used the fine blade...just as amazing but ruins easily for this type of work for which it is not intended. Coarse cut blade is the workhorse here.

I am a small woman with an obsession for growing fruit trees. After I injured myself for the second time using my everyday loppers to cut thick branches, I promised my chiropractor that I would upgrade my pruning equipment. My 87-year-old neighbor recommended the Vaughan and Bushnell BS333C Bear Saw. She has been using one for years, and she knows what she is doing. Unlike all of the other pruning saws I have tried, this one does not get bound up into the wood because of the double bladed design. And for smaller branches (up to 2 inches thick), try the Spear & Jackson 8290RS Razorsharp Heavy Duty Telescopic Ratchet Anvil Loppers (aka: The Beast). It cuts through them like butter.Buy these two pieces of equipment, and both you and your chiropractor will be happy campers throughout pruning season.

Decided to try after many years of using conventional hand saw. Just amazed of result. It's going to be my primary saw for wood hunting in forests. Easy, accurate and compact.

Pretty nice, very sharp. A bit harder to use than I anticipated, mostly due to the extreme flexibility of the saw. It's easy to cut a non-straight hole, then have the saw get stuck. Easy to handle, and VERY sharp. Still razor sharp after completing my project, I expect this to last quite a while before dulling.

This is a terrific buy for both the casual as well as the serious tool fan. Great saw especially for a women because it cuts quickly, smoothly and easily. It will go though a 2 x 4 with no problem. It works in most situations like a tradition saw and is ideal where a flush cut is needed. Also great where you need a narrow blade. The blade unscrews from the handle so it can be stored in places where a traditional saw can’t. I just passed down my 20-year old V & B to a friend who HAD to have it and immediatley bought a new one for myself.

Sometimes a power saw or chain saw is more trouble than its worth. Hand saws are lightweight, QUIET and can be much safer than powered alternatives. This Bear Saw is so sharp that on small jobs it can cut with less effort than it takes to go get and set up a powered alternative. It is fantastic tools for backyard tree trimming or an occasional 2x4. The fact that it cuts on the pull stroke makes it easy to use when I'm on a ladder or in a tree and can't hold on to the tree near where I am cutting.I bought my second Bear Saw this summer, 10 to 12 years after the first. The old one still cuts but I have never had it sharpened and is now available for dirty jobs. I figured that the cost of sharpening could be a high percentage of the cost of a new one and I like having a really sharp new one available. They come with a blade guard & sleeve that you do not want to lose. New ones are really sharp -- I recommend gloves and long sleeves if you do climb into backyard fruit trees like I do.
