The gaps between the fine tuners weren’t wide enough to fit ropecore strings. This often happens with individual fine tuners and also the Wittner tailpieces with integrated fine tuners.. Usually a very gentle twist of a very small screwdriver can widen the gaps of the tines. I have done this countless times without a problem on ebony, metal and composite tailpieces.The metal on these is too stiff to easily bend, and not only that, a corner broke off of the composite tailpiece (see photo) with not much pressure at all. So in short, it’s built of shoddy composite and cheap metal.Also how can it be made of ebony and be composite at the same time? The material was very clearly NOT ebony wood. It was ebony colored, but not made of ebony. Maybe ebony sawdust was used in the manufacture of the item?
