Hard to wrap around a standard 4/4. I was able to place it on but too tight on the violin at the shoulder rest's maximum width setting. Player said it was comfortable. Needs to be more flexible for a proper fit.

It's a good shoulder rest. However it likes to slip off the violin a lot of times.

Note, please confirm that this is the same as the VLM Diamond before you buy based on this review, I bought mine on ebay, but it looks the same as the picture here, so I am assuming it is the same one.I have a short neck and broad shoulders, I hate playing without a shoulder rest, but have spent years looking for one that would work for me (I have bought and returned all of the high end kuns, which did not work for me). After seeing this review [...]I decided to try another, fearing I would have to return it again. I shortened all the screws to the lowest setting, set up the angles as suggested, and it was perfect, never have I felt a better shoulder rest in my life.To make things better, this is great quality! It is made of good quality maple (quite thin), has nice thick foam, great feet that stick well even when placed loosely, and are very soft and varnish friendly. They also fold down and in for easy compact storage... though my case is big enough that I leave it set up. Acoustically, it sounds great and resonates with the violinI don't know what is with the other guy who rated 1 star or what he was doing to break it, but I will never use another shoulder rest again. Of course everybody is different, but I think this highly customizable shoulder rest will work for most, and especially those with a short neck, or who like a low rest that still allows the violin to rest on your collarbone.

This was a waste of money and time. I had this shoulder rest less than a day before it broke while I was adjusting the angle of one of the legs. It, without exaggeration, snapped into two pieces. I don't think I'll be purchasing another Viva La Musica shoulder rest anytime soon.
