This set of three is about the same price as one Pferd Polifan Ceramic disc. Sure, it's made in China so they can't spell Ceramic on the label properly (yes, just like in the picture it says "Cremic") and the "Germany VSM" SG XK850X polyester cloth may be made by Shanghai Fermi Abrasives Co., Ltd. under license, but it works just fine.Normal aluminum oxide cuts fast but dulls rapidly, while zirconia is much softer yet fractures into sharp edges so continues working longer, but slowly. "Seeded Gel" or Sol-Gel ceramic is a way of sintering harder aluminum oxide so it also fractures to new sharp edges, like zirconia but with a more aggressive cut. The self-sharpening of both require occasional very high pressure applied to fracture the new surface, so try that if it doesn't seem to cut well.3M Cubitron is a pyramidal-shaped sintered ceramic and VSM Actirox + Pferd Victograin are the competitors to that, but none of those are made into curved-edge flap discs. Whitby also carries calcined alumina which has been fired to drive out water so fractures less, so is very slow cutting but long-lasting and best for final polishing--for the same price as SALI zirconia curved-edge discs and less than half the price of these ceramics.After you've used up the edge on these in tight corners, the rest of the disc still functions perfectly well as a normal flap disc

I wasn’t sure if I’d like them. A friend said they go bad quickly.The ones I bought work great and last better than most!
