It has been awhile since I have welded and I am just starting with a TIG welder. This item is perfect to brush or start to learn how to weld. The metal is thin at 17 gauge but most of the metal that I use will have a thickness not over one eight inch. I am using TIG with mild steel wire. There are plenty of angels. It gave me the opportunity to practice adjusting controls and learning about my new welder. As I progressed along over several days I was definitely starting to really like TIG welding and get considerably better!

Fun item to practice TOG or even MIG welding. In the end you'll hopefully end up with something useful. If not, well it's inexpensive enough to order another and try again.I'm torn on this type of item. One hand I like that you have precise cuts that allow you to focus on laying beads down. On the other hand all it does is allow you to practice welding, missing a very important field skill of fit up. In the end, I will buy more of these simply for welding practice as it's a time and in the end a money saver.

This is a cleverly designed "vase" that will allow beginner welders like me, to practice my skills. The metal is fairly thin at 17 gauge, so I'll need to be careful not to blow a hole. The kit has spot welded edges so it can be bent to the final shape and then welded in place. I found there was a little rust on the metal that will need cleaned off prior.Bottom Line: Nice little welding kit that gives me a lot of welding opportunities in a small package.

I'm very much a complete beginner, with just a flux core machine, and this is an excellent type of practice for me. Even getting all the bends just right prior to welding takes some patience. The bottom hexagon is helpful to get things angled/bent just right. I did over-bend one "joint" and it snapped off when I bent it back, this actually seemed to make it easier dealing with two halves rather than the whole thing as one.I only have mild steel wire in my machine at present, so that's what I used. Yes, this will rust, but I don't care. I've done 2 of the long sides and the corresponding bottom joints, and it looks Terrible. I've got the temperature turned down all the way, and if I work quickly, short passes, and allow the metal to cool down, it won't burn through. My machine only has a single adjustment for current/temp, and not the typical independent adjustments for temperature and wire speed; so that hasn't made this any easier. My garage, in August, is already far too hot to work. I come back to this when I get a roll of stainless wire (instead of mild steel) and the weather cools off a bit.

More fun than just running practice beads on scrap pieces of metal and you have a nice vase when you are finished.

This is great for practice welding however, for a novice maybe not completely, the metal is real thin and even with some experience and not a total novice but not a expert either. I still popped a couple of holes in the material till I got the machine dialed in. Once dialed in the kit was fun and the metal decent quality. Overall I'd give it a 4.5 out of 5 it's good practice.

My son has been in a welding program at school for a little over a year and I thought he would like to try this. He really enjoyed it. The metal is nice quality and required minimal skill to weld together. It made a cute little vase and he was proud he made it.

This is awesome for practice, and even better if you could make something cool out of it at the end. I had to put it down several times and come back to it because some of the angles are tough to smoothly weld. I'm just doing it for hobby, not an experienced welder. I'm sure someone with lots of experience would sail through, but this was a good challenge. For the price, this is well worth it. WelderElite has a few others of these that I'm definitely interested in grabbing and playing with. Very fun, very awesome!
