The metal rod is thin and short—aka NNN! Not sure why they advertise these as “backcountry.”

I am very glad that i bought the boots. I have short but wide feet and usually it is difficult for me to get boots that fit. These boots fit perfectly. The laces allow flexibility in tying them with the desired strength. I ran approximately 7 miles today and my feet felt very comfortable.

Everything is very nice about these boots, they fit well, are comfortable and stitched nicely, but the lacelets that hold the boot laces are way too fragile even though they're metal. Pot-metal to be exact it seems...the topmost "hook" ones bend very easily and cannot be bent back, too fragile.

After returning three or four other Ski Boot, I really like the comfort of these boots. I would suggest going Up 1/2 size in comparison to the chart Whitewoods provides.
