Instructions can be a bit confusing so to be honest I looked at other reviews for help, but once I got the hang of it it was easy to manage. I was able to run a majority of my holiday lights on timer thanks to this little thing. highly recommend!

This thing has 2 flaws: 1) the instructions are terrible 2) you can't plug 2 into the same outletThe 2 plugs are already paired and labeled, so that's one problem overcome. The instructions actually have a fair bit of information except what people probably bought this timer for: setting up the on and off intervals. Here's some realizations that helped me:- The time section is the clock for the device and not any one off information- the tmr section is where you set when the switch should cut on/or not a time interval- You can have multiple times for the switch to cut on/on- You can set the times for cutting on/off can be set for all weekdays, just the weekend, or a specific dayHope this helps someone

This timer system is unreliable. I have only been able to use it briefly as a manual on/off remote control. The manual on/off works but my programmed on/off times do not work reliably. I have checked my timer on/off schedule and settings many times and the unit just fails to turn the lamp on for no reason. I have double-checked all settings. I double-checked the 24 hour clock setting etc.I even created a test schedule to have a light turn on, then turn off 1 hour later, then back on 1 hour later, then back off 1 hour later, and the unit just plain failed to turn the light on according to the schedule. But it works if I use the manual on/off.I am an engineering technician with many years of experience and I know what I'm doing. There's no EMI interference, days-of-week are correct etc. I have done extensive troubleshooting. This system is intermittent, unreliable, and it will be returned.Other bad annoyances: the "backlight" turns off after just 6 seconds! I mean really? So right in the middle of thinking of your next step, BAM, the LCD backlight goes off and that short time is not configurable. Even using the manual on/off is annoying because the unit is not "ready" for the OK button. You have to wait another 3 seconds before it will "take" the OK button. Very frustrating.

This thing does everything that it advertises and more. Extremely versatile. You can configure it six ways from Sunday and on top of the remote control ON/OFF and timers, it monitors the power use of each plug. Now for the BAD NEWS. I'm a professional engineer and I had to spend a BUNCH of time figuring it out AFTER I managed to actually READ it. The instruction booklet could be lost under a postage stamp and it must have been written by a Chinese engineer who wants to save trees. The facts are there when you try several ways and finally stumble on to what he meant.Start with the labeling on the unit: "TIME" = CLOCK; "TMR" does all the Time function work except set the clock. Next little trick is to understand that the timer does ON or OFF - not BOTH. SO, one timer to turn the device on and a complete new timer to turn it OFF. And heaven forbid you touch the ON/OFF button which also turns off the timers. Then there is the little matter of the time-out interval which appears to be about 8 MICROSECONDS! Just dare blink and BANG! you're back to start completely over on whatever you were struggling to set. OK. You can lose that seasonal weight you wanted to lose by exercising your fat little fingers FOR HOURS!All in, I ordered two more wall units. You get the things for $10 each which is the same you pay others just for the power monitoring feature. BATTERY LIFE yet to be determined. Control unit is powered by 2 x AA cells which ain't a lot and could be irritating when it dies. They don't offer an external power option although it won't take much to drill a hole in and wire a 3V DC brick to it. RANGE so far looks good. I have the controller in one end of the house and a wall outlet 50 feet away on the other side of a two car garage.

No more turning on and off lights during holidays or another time.Seems it is a trick to understand how to program these units.... so here is the setup....To programPress KIT left right up down to reach the desired plug in module... the module and kit # must matchThe modules are numberedPress MENU to scroll to desired control item, N/O TMR C/O TIME..... it will be flashingPress MENUWith N/O flashing, this immediate on/off depending what kit# is shown, using the OK buttonPress MENUWith TMR flashing, TMR1 should also be flashing, TMR1 is the first timer.... there are 19 timers you can program. To turn a light on and off you will need 2 of these timers. With TMR1 flashing Press OK, the days of the week will flash.... keep pressing +/- until desired days are shown..... for instance Monday through Friday..... Press OK to select. The HOUR will now be flashing, press +/- to change, press OKThe MINUTE will now be flashing, press +/- to change, press OKNow the ON/OFF will be flashing, use +/- to select... select ONThis will be the first ON time... press OKNow the TMR1 will be flashing, to select an off time press +, this will create TMR2.... Repeat the steps used to setup TMR1 Except select OFF for this timer. You can wait for the timer to return to normal or press return, this will return you to the run mode and save your changes.Hope this helps!!

Yes, everything said about the unusual instructions is accurate, but I spent 15 minutes and figured it out. This is a great controller for multiple small devices (lights for me) timed for daily or mixed days on/off programs. I wish it had a DST button to push twice a year and it would be nice to have an app to control it by the smart phone. Other than those issues, this device is very convenient as a single small unit controlling several lights. You have to purchase additional receiving plugs; not a big deal.
