This cable is better-suited for monitoring the level of water in a well, water trough or fish tank. Use the cable or connect it to your own float-switch

Mislabeled? Hard to tell. Perhaps only the sensor extension is different? Description should be better. Another issue is that the included AAA batteries were DOA.Update: Sept 5 2024 - Although description and batteries were negatives the device itself is good. Revising rating from 1 to 4 stars. Vendor did reach out to me and offered a resolution.

I purchased the hub and 4 sensors-great investment! There is no monitoring charge. The sensors run through the hub/base. I used water sensors for my sum pumps, floor drain and on floor to detect any water. Everything has been tested and works well. If any water is detected, the hub/base will beep, sensor will beep and my phone will notify me. This is excellent for peace of mind and also no monthly fees!

I received a defective and used item. Both batteries are finished (1.3 volts empty instead of 1.55 volts). I had to replace the batteries during installation. But now, the water detector is recognized by the YOLINK application, but it does not detect the presence of water even if you insert the contacts into a glass of water. I regret that the warranty is only one month. My purchase was made in September 2023 and I had the installation done in January 2024. I then noticed that the product warranty was only 30 days, even for an originally defective product. The water detector is a critical part for home security and it is irresponsible to re-list such a used, defective product without a real guarantee.

Application - Monitor water level in Sump.Installation - Simple. Scan bar code with Yolink App, Assign it a room, hit Set button to activate and it appears in app. Now assign alarm strategy (how it will notify you of an event).My sump is in a far corner of the basement, yet the Yolink LORA wireless signal is strong, despite having to pass through many walls. The device includes an audible alarm; much appreciated. My alarm strategy includes sending a text, email, iOS notification, and sounding the Yolink Siren Alarm (a separate device).Great value and performance and, yes, this device saved me when I unplugged the sump pump recently to vacuum the area and then forgot to plug it back in (the alerts went off hours later while watching TV with my wife). Nice work, Yolink!

I've been a little paranoid about my sump pump recently. I have three pumps in my sump well, a primary pump with its built-in vertical float sensor, a secondary backup pump with a vertical float sensor positioned so that it will not activate unless the primary pump stops working, and a 12-volt pump that runs off a 100 amp-hour AGM battery kept charged using a battery tender. This 12-volt sump pump is my pump of last resort in case of a power outage, and its float will not activate unless the sump water level gets above both the primary and secondary pumps. With this setup, it's not easy to tell when my primary sump pump stops working. This YoLInk Water Leak Sensor 3 solves this problem. The sensor comes with a water sensor probe, which I did not use. For sump wells, they suggest that you use a float switch instead of the included probe since the probe terminals could become covered with mineral deposits and reduce their water detection sensitivity. I ordered the 'Level Sense 15 Feet Water Level Float Switch with Mounting Bracket' from Amazon and it works perfectly for this sump well application. I just had to wire in a standard 3.5mm male plug to the end of the float switch wires to be able to plug into the YoLInk Water Leak Sensor. The YoLink Water Leak Sensor requires the use of an inexpensive central hub (I bought the YoLInk SpeakerHub). It communicates with the hub by use of a long-range radio that has up to a 1/4 mile range and uses very little power. The two standard AA batteries in the Water Leak Sensor should last for one to two years. Setup was quick and easy. You just install the YoLink App onto your cell phone, plug in the hub anywhere in your house, and connect it to your home WiFi. Then you can easily add the Water Leak Sensor to your system by scanning the QR code on the sensor. The YoLink ecosystem has many different types of sensors, alarm speakers, switches, etc. for constructing very elaborate home automation systems. This Water Leak Sensor is a good introduction to this ecosystem, and I'll certainly be considering other home automation options. I attached the small Water Level Float Switch in my sump well so that it would not activate unless the sump water level rose above the normal maximum level permitted by my primary sump pump (but below the level where my secondary sump pump would activate). Now, if my primary sump pump stops working, I receive both an email alert as well as an app notification on my cell phone letting me know that the primary sump pump has stopped working. You can also set up the app to text you an alert, which I have not yet done since you are limited to 25 free SMS texts per month. Since the YoLInk system is compatible with Alexa, I also have all my Alexa devices announce that my primary sump pump has stopped working (easily done with an Alexa routine). In addition, I have set up my YoLInk system to notify me when the float switch opens back up, since this tells me that my secondary pump has run successfully, giving me peace of mind. The YoLInk Water Level Sensor is an elegant method by which to monitor my sump pumps. Now, no matter where I am, I'll know if my primary pump has failed and needs attention as well as whether my secondary backup pump has successfully run. I'm also impressed with the entire YoLInk ecosystem.

I'm totally blind. I got this sensor mainly to play with initially. The sensor is square in shape. It has a wire that plugs into it 3.5MM and the wire at the other end has 2 round contacts that stick out about 1/4 of an inch to detect water. The Battery compartment is on the back of the sensor with a screw mount whole. The end of the wire that has the two contact probes also has a screw whole too. Their is a button on the front of the sensor for allowing you to put it in set mode and to cause it to pick up settings afer you have made them. However you could just wait and the settings would be picked up the next time it checks for updates and the like. Their is also a sticky mount that you could stick to something to hold the sensor itself. The wire just guessing is about 2 to 3 feet long. I didn't check the length of it.I got the sensor online in the YoLink App. For those that are blind, you'll need to go to the 3rd unlabeled button if you already have sensors online to add this one. At least that is true for Android.In the App, you can go into the configuration for the sensor to either have it alert you when water found or not detected. You can also turn off the beep as well. You can also set the amount of time if the problem exist to be reminded about the problem. That a blind person will ahve trouble setting being it is a slider bar and not a combo box, edit box or flick control.So in my case! Like I said, I initially got this to play with. I got around to putting it in a spot that I can get some use out of it. I put the wire probe in the toilet tank and using the sticky hook mounted it on the side of the tank. Why I did this is twice within the last 6 months! I had the toilet tank handle get stuck down and the water ran for a few hours before I noticed it. So put this sensor wire in the toilet, went into the app and set the sensor to alert me when no water detected and turned off the beep. After all, I don't want it beeping each and every time someone flushes the toilet. Set the alert to remind me after two minuts if the tank hasn't filled back up. The amount of time you set is up to you! If you have a few people in your house! Depending on how fast your toilet takes to fill! You may want to increase the reminder time.I did have a case of the sensor alerting me about the tank being empty but it wasn't. But I just have the probes in the water. So I don't know if it was the fact that some water went into the air and the probes weren't touching the water or not. But that toilet hadn't been flushed in over 24 hours. Probably was more like 30 hours. As far as I could tell they whir touching the water. when I checked out the probe. Unhooked the probe wire from the sensor checked the batteries, took the probe and dried it off and put everything back like I had it. I'll have to see if it happens again. If so, then this may not meet my needs and I'll have to down grade the number of stars I gave it.I just did this in the last 3 days before creating this review.
