This works so well. Easy to use and set up. Tested it and got a notification to my phone. Exactly what I was looking for.

I purchased both versions of this product and wish I could review them separately, but since they are part of the same product page, that's not possible. I'm including product photos since the names of the models have already changed since I bought them. What is currently called the "standard" version appears offline from your smart app within a few minutes after initial setup. It still works, but the app will report it as offline. This is a problem for being able to rely on the sensor: you can't create "device offline" automation to warn you of problems because the app will think the device is offline no matter what. What is currently called the "extensible" version maintains a stable connection to my smart app. The design of the sensor is also better for my intended use (flat on a basement floor). This version is also louder than the "standard" version.I definitely recommend you avoid the "standard" version.I wish I could give the "extensible" version 5 stars while giving the "standard" version 2 stars. Since they're both part of the same product page, I'll just give an overall rating of 3 stars.

It is what it is... Not expensive...reliable so far but a pain to install the software and pairing the detector on my IPhone. First...the software interface is far from being intuitive. Once you have downloaded the app...you need to create an account...if you already have a Google account you can link it. When setting up the router...make sure you select a 2.4GHz network... The next steps are a bit confusing...Setting the phone interface...you will be asked to choose a pairing mode...which means you will have to make sure the detector is on the same mode as the one you will set on the phone...So you need to turn on the detector and the flashing speed will determine which pairing mode you should use...then you need to go into your phone wifi setting to select the detector...again this is not intuitive and the display in the user manual are really not clear since it is not a screen capture of the phone set up menu...The time it will take to understand each step...the detectors will no longer be in pairing mode and you will not be able to sync it...It is just great fun to redo the whole pairing process again... Once you have succeeded...you can test the detector by simply moistening your finger and place the probe against it...the alarm will ring quite loudly but since my water tank is in the basement...I am not sure we will hear the alarm on the first or second floor but the notice is very obvious on the phone. You can select different alarm sounds...the car alarm is the best and the loudest...the chimes and music alarms are just a waste from my perspective but maybe this could be useful when in use in a baby diaper...LOL!Wall instalment...I gave up on it... The holding tab that you either stick with 3M tape or screw into the wall will activate the alarm once you slide the detector module on top of it.. so I decided to leave the thing hanging on top of the water heater pressure valve...Will I buy this item again with my new house...unlikely...I will look for a detector that can be plugged into an outlet...I am concerned about the 1 year battery life... I don't even want to think about how you can change the battery inside... no instruction about this in the owner's manuel...You guess will be as good as mine...

I found this device generally easy to connect to my home Wifi and to communicate with it using the app it has, but because this isn’t a well known brand I worry that the app and the “company” behind this product might not be reputable and could be using this device somehow to sniff my home network, or otherwise use it for negative purposes. It doesn’t interface with the Apple Home app so it’s not been vetted by an American company, and seems instead to have its own “eco system” of devices you can buy from the company that all work with the same app. That’s kind of cool, but again the company that makes this isn’t well known and for all I know, all of their devices are making it possible for China to infiltrate our homes and steal our data. That being said, when I set it up and dropped the detector cord into water, it sent a notification to my phone via the app and did so ASAP. The sound the device makes when it detects water is silly. It’s not alarming, as much as it’s just a little ditty. Kind of like the weird ditties washers play now when the cycle completes. So as others have said, you won’t likely notice the alarm going off in the house when it goes off, unless hearing a strange ditty playing softly from your basement, would raise your interest immediately. Hope this helps!

This is a pretty great device. A plumber recommended I get a water alarm when out of town for key rooms (have a real estate lock so people can access home once given combo) so in the event a leak occurred and I know to call someone to shut off the water. He made a great point though, "What's the point of an alarm if nobody is home to hear it?" This has a great WIFI capability that will connect to your modem/router and alert you directly to your phone if you're away (which is when these accidents always seem to happen). Also helpful if you have a basement or utility room/shed/attic/crawlspace, etc. (rooms you may not frequently visit). The app is fairly intuitive and a LITTLE clunky to install, but not bad. You must have a 2.4ghz option on your wifi. Not a big deal, most modems/routers will have both, but you may have to enable the 2.4ghz network.Insurance agencies generally prefer fire damage over water damage believe it or not, because water you still have to tear up everything, it's caught too late (fireman are sent once a fire alarm goes), and mold damage is tremendously expensive. This is pretty cheap peace of mind and your own insurance for $27. Haven't tried multiple yet but thinking I'm picking up another 2-3.

Bought to put inside the sump pump drain so we can be alerted before we go to the basement and find it’s wet. Instructions seemed a little out of order, but easy enough to figure out. WiFi works well. We have a two story home and the router lives on the second floor, no issues with connecting to the WiFi even down in the basement corner. I tested it before installing, and was immediately alerted on my phone when the sensor hit the water in the sump pump hole.Instructions say it won’t function when it’s plugged in, so that’s a bit disappointing. I would rather just plug it in and leave it instead of having to remember to charge it periodically. The built in alarm is not very loud. If you are planning to have this in your basement, odds are you will not hear it unless there’s nothing else running in your house and you don’t have children running around. The alarm sound is the William Tell Overture, not a standard alarm shriek, which is fine but unexpected. I suppose I didn’t buy it for the loudness of the alarm, but for the phone alert function, which does seem to work well.Overall, happy with product and would recommend for the price.

I'd just get the Reliance alarm as it is dead reliable although lacks WiFi. Here are the pros & cons of this product:PROS:- The alarm works (intermittently) when dipped in water, it has a mind of its own, doesn't work everytime- The notifications come sometimesCONS:- The app gets stuck and doesn't respond on iphone- The notifications come in a barrage and are endless, basically notifications keep coming every one second or so when the sensor is dipped in water- The alarm is a musical tone instead of a buzzer or beeper- The instructions are poor, no mention of how much time it takes to charge or how to know that it is chargedI am returning it.
