First problem is the threaded "ring" that tightens this on the outside is to sloppy in its tolerances. Therefore you can't tighten it enough to seal because the threads will jump track and the thing won't stay tight. Secondly the threads should be LEFT handed threads, so when you screw something to the inside that action wind make the ring come loose. So when you screw in a nipple because then main body is right hand threads as the nipple tightens it makes the body move which loosens up the ring... leak city

The internal threads on the side without flange are so sloppy they don't seal even with sealer and the fitting will bottom out first. I will buy from Bulk Reef Supply or Savko from now on.

As stated by others, the threads strip VERY easily. One of the four I bought stripped while hand-tightening and leaks. A 25% failure rate isn't good. Fortunately it's on an e-drain so I have some time to replace it.

I cut a hole in my hot tub and I plumbed in a sand filter and these worked fine for that part. But where I exited the frame to go out to the filter, I actually broke one of these tightening the nut on. You have to be pretty careful with these. Plus, even though I used pipe tape and eventually pipe thread compound, I still had problems with leaking on the threaded connections, I never did figure that out because I finally took the two off and threw them away leaving just the strong PVC pipe to go through the wooden bulkhead

On the larger one, the threads were too tight but I made it work. I used them for a fish pond filter.
