These reusable brew bags are completely awesome and are HUGE. Although I don’t make my own beer (or drink beer, for that matter), I do brew my own homemade Essiac and other herbal tea concentrates. The concentrates I make usually result in between two and three gallons of elixirs. When I make them, I usually dump the dried herbs into the pot, cook it, and then strain it. But these brew bags have completely simplified the process and made my brewing a lot less sloppy. Now, I just lift up the bag, squeeze out the excess liquid, take it to the compost heap, and then dump it. Easy peasy!Being a no-nonsense type of girl, I just turn the bag inside out, quickly rinse it, and chuck it into the dishwasher, just like my jelly strainer bags; they wash perfectly. Of course, if you’re working with some materials like fresh blackberries, for example, you will likely experience some staining, but this is to be expected and happens often with jelly straining bags as well. If stains get on your nerves, simple plop the used brew bag into a bowl of cold, soapy water, agitate the water, let it sit, then hand wring it dry, repeating the process as necessary. Overall, these brew bags are an absolute time saver and I highly recommend them!

These bags are large and work well for straining large quantities of fruit during the wine making process. They would also work well for cold brew if the coffee is not ground too finely. They did have a slight smell when new, but that has disappeared after washing. Relatively easy to clean.
