I acquired these Ethernet Cable Extender Adapters so I could connect my ethernet cable (from my router/modem combo) to my Ethernet to USB adapter I use to connect my laptop to the internet. I use a very long cable so I can use the laptop (with a solid, internet connection) anywhere in the house but since the ethernet cable has RJ45 plugs on both ends I needed the obtained Extender to make it all work. These Extenders (and the Splitters) seem well built and pretty solid. I like that they are not slippery plastic, but they have a little corrugated grip to them. I recommend them if this is something you need to split or join ethernet cable.

With the splitter not being powered, it s next to impossible to get a split from your modem to 2 devices. The coupler works great, but if you are needing this set for use as an Ethernet splitter to connect a second device it' s just not going to work. I have !gb services using a Netgear 8 port powered and tried to use a splitter from this set in multiple fashions and it just red lights the ethernet connection. For splitting 1 ethernet output you will need a powered splitter.
