Two of the four batteries it came with were dead, but otherwise they work great and fit into the spaces I need

I have these in my basement and they work..... doesn't take more than a drip of water to set off.

I grew up in a town where sump pumps are standard, and everyone gets water in their basement at some point. When my husband and I purchased our house, we moved where the yard is barely dirt and mostly sand, and the only water problem is not enough water. Except for that one moment when a drain backed up unexpectedly, and I happened to have these things on the basement floor, and the beeping sound was unlike any beeping sound of any other alarm in our house. The damage could have been much worse. I learned from a place where water was always a risk, and took that habit with where there should have been no risk.Given the low cost of these alarms, everyone should have a couple spread around their house.

These things work well! Just a teensy sniff of water sets off the alarm. Important for that unexpected leak, especially from a hot water tank or toilet. Small enough to not be in the way. Very nice.

The more it is the better. You can can have the extras as a backup. Very easy to install I have more as reserves easy testing and connections. It has a free battery too. Yes, my house value has gone up. I have not spent more than $100 on all my upgrades. My house value has gone up from 695k to 876k in just 6 months. This is very true and I can prove it. This is just with me working on it and just a solar system backup battery that is worthed.

this time of year with all the snow melt the water table gets high enough that our sump pump runs constantly. we have it connected to a hose that runs outside to make use of all that water for lawn watering purposes. but sometimes if that hose gets bumped, crimps up the pump stops working and water starts to rise inside the basement.on arrival you get everything you need including the nine volt batteries. open the unit, connect the battery, close the top and it's ready to go. it works using the two small metal pieces you see on the outside of the case. if you touch both for example with your hand it will sound off the alarm just as it does with contact to water.so on day two after i placed these around the sump pump i heard the alarm from upstairs. i went down and saw the water had just started to spill out of the hole and onto the basement floor. i grabbed the unit, removed the battery, so it'd dry out and stop going off. fyi after a couple hours i put it back together and back to work.turned out the hose had gotten crimped when an elk had gotten into our yard for snack time. left his/her calling card, a giant pile of elk droppings where it got caught up in the hose. a little something just to let us know of our night time visitor. that said i fixed the hose crimp, the pump resumed operation and the water level went back down to normal. due to the alarm there was no water damage whatsoever.since then it has gone off one more time again easily heard throughout the house. i could not be happier with these little alarms. granted we have additional insurance for basement flooding but still the hassle of dealing with repairs is not one any of us want to deal with.i would recommend these to anyone needing an extra set of 'eyes' when it comes to water level, potential water damage. these are great!

These are simple and cheap. Basically there's a pair of wires wrapped around one edge of the device going to the base. When water (or your fingers) touch both leads, the alarm goes off to let you know the detector has gotten wet.I bought these based on their small size and the promise of being 95 dB because I need to place one under my dishwasher behind half a foot of baffling that's likely to block anything but the loudest noise.Tested by placing them in a dry, stoppered sink and letting a trickle of water in until the alarm went off.Unfortunately these bad boys barely break 80 dB (according to my sound meter) when you're right up next to them. I'm not sure if I'll be able to hear one go off from underneath my dishwasher unless it's quiet in the room, but they do go off continually until they are no longer in contact with water so odds are good I'll catch it within a few minutes if there's another leak.In conclusion, I'm disappointed that these are not as loud as advertised, but they do come with batteries and they do correctly detect and alarm when coming into contact with water.
