Your cart is empty.The Ulu is a knife with a semi-circular blade originally crafted by the native Alaskan people over three thousand years ago. Styled for utility, this design comes from the Inupiat indians of North Western Alaska. The blade (world-class stainless steel with a single beveled edge) measures 6 inches and has a four inch Golden Alaskan Birchwood handle. The knife comes with a convenient Birch storage stand as well. The Ulu performs cutting and chopping jobs with the greatest of ease. Because the center of force is concentrated directly over the middle of the blade, it creates twice the direct downward force compared to that of conventional cutlery where the force is behind the center of the blade. Anyone, including those with hand or wrist problems, can perform cutting, chopping and mincing tasks effortlessly, as a result of this dynamic feature. This makes the Ulu excelllent for cutting all sorts of meats, herbs, vegetables, cheeses, and even pizza. These larger handle ULUs with the open blade are very popular with the avid Ulu user. Works very well with the Ulu Block & Bowl cutting block.

I haven't used it yet but it seems legit, it's very sharp it's made in Alaska. That stand is crappy...

We use is to cut up silver and pink salmon, it is on the small side but this ulu is made solid and it is real firm. Cuts through the silver heads nice. I need to buy a ulu sharpner, I'm not sure if this ulu is snarpened on both sides but a triditional ulu only has one side sharpened. I need to look when I get home.

I use this knife all the time. Also bought some for each of my kids. It's easy to use, easy to clean, and is so often better than a traditional knife because it saves motions and therefore time.

My daughter brought me one of these from Alaska. used it everyday--until the fateful night we ordered pizza. Next day knife not in its saddle--woe is me--looked and looked for it. must have been thrown out with the pizza box. entered ulu into computer and voila! 5 days later item replaced. use it every day. great value. thank you inuites.
