Performance and Quality varies, if you turn the Thermostats off and alter the Thermostat pipe side its great and easy to freeze. However the Lockshield Valve Side can be Difficult to Freeze, I recommend that despite the Claim you don't need to Shut Diwn the System ? I would recommend turning off the Stop Cock to relieve pressure. I tried the thermostat side and it froze and worked first time, I tried to freeze the Lockshield valve side with little success and flooded my conservatory until I turned off the stop cock. After altering the pipework and Raising the Radiator. I found a Radiator Central Heating Dosing Funnel a great tool to refill the radiators with the bleed valve open to reduce trapped air ? And add Fernox F1.Thease are Disposable, some have Brass Eyelets so they are Re- Usable ? I wouldn't purchase any less than 300ml Freeze Spray cans (that's 3 uses). 150ml cans are only worth one and a half use. Easy to use but you need to cable toe the ends up tightly, fits 15mm pipes easily.

Product did not work out the box following the instructions. You cant get a tight enough wrap with the cable ties when using the hard plastic sleeve clip as the instructions said as its not flexible. If you cut the sleeve clip to allow for the cable ties on the end the sleeve wont seal properly. You can wrap the ends in lots of tape to stem the flow, but by the time you have tested this there is not enough spray for the second pipe. Had to drain the system in the end due to the unreliability of this expensive product. It did not freeze the pipe to allow for removal. Would not recommend

I went through 4 cans of this garbage on a 1” copper line. No water coming out when valve was cracked open, ice didn’t hold, HAD to screw the new meter valve to the flared nut with full blown water pressure fighting me. Insurance claim.

I needed change the Watermain going from the street to the house at the curb. This worked like a charm to freeze the pipe so I could change the defective curb stop otherwise known as Watermain at the curb. I cut off the defective valve and then installed the new one without a hitch. I highly recommend it!!!

I have only used this on a vertival pipe. It froze a 15mm copper pipe quickly. I needed to replace a raiator valve. I have about 1/2 of the can left for another pipe if needed.

I read reviews on this before buying and was a little apprehensive but had to do it anyway as i needed to cut pipes without draining the system. Some reviews said it didn't work.Bought the large can which does 2 pipes. The instructions did not clarify for how long you pressed the nozzle for on the 1st pipe. I was fearful of going for too long and not having enough for the second pipe.Cleverly I weighed the can. Took off the contents weight to work out the weight of the canister. Halved the weight of the contents and added this to the weigh of the canister. Then pressed on 1st application until the overall weight was down to half contents plus canister. Had to stop and weigh a couple of times.Once fully applied waited the 5 mins and then cut the pipe. Bingo! I was to, say politely, amazed to see there were no leaks. The ice plug worked well. Tip of the day. Put the alarm on your phone set for a few minutes before they say the ice plug will start melting.

I wanted to remove 6 old TRV's (Thermostatic Radiator Valve) on radiators and fit new ones but that I didn't want to do was do them all in one go (I actually did one a day !), and I also didn't want to drain the whole system either... enter this great kit !Please not one kit will do TWO radiators, so I needed 3 kits.First you should fully close the valve at the opposite end where the TRV valve is (usually has a small push on cover over it) then next fully close the old TRV... i.e. set to lowest setting (1)… then slacken the nut from the TRV nearest the radiator, thus allowing all the water to drain from the radiator - on my smallest radiator it took 2 dishes of water, so make sure you have a bucket or two to empty the water into (there will be more water than you think) and a couple of old towels in case of leakage !Next it was time to use this brilliant kit... you first fasten the blue insulating sleeve around the pipe using the sliding fastener provided and then secure it 'very tightly' at the bottom to the pipe with the cable tie provided. Then you attach the little pipe to the aerosol and squirt the cold spray into the jacket pushing the nozzle into the inside of the jacket, next to the pipe. You need to keep topping it up a little at time until you have used half of the aerosol, and you then need to leave it about 5 minutes so the 'ice plug' form in the copper pipe.(Full instructions are included.. PLEASE READ THEM, this is just a quick summary !)After 5 minutes or so I slowly opened the TRV to maximum (6) to make sure no water came out (this shows the ice plug has formed, if you get water coming out, close the valve again (1) quickly and squirt more aerosol in... but I had no problem with any of my 6 valves) you can then remove the old TRV and in my case I used a professional pipe cutter which you put on the pipe and turn it one turn but you can use a hacksaw then file the top of the pipe smooth, it just takes longer and is more fiddly. After removing the old valve to can fit the new one, I made sure the new one was closed (once again, set to "1") and have the nut and olive to hand so you can fit it to the pipe straight away... don't forget all your tools too, so you don't have to go out to the shed for 10 minutes to find them, the plug could melt in that time, please, please, prepare !The pipe should stay frozen for up to 20 minutes, but I managed to change each valve in 5-6 minutes max. When that is fitted, attach the other end of the valve to the radiator, remove the blue insulating coat by cutting the cable tie and removing the slider... open the valve at the other end of the radiator, then wait 10 minutes or so for the pipe to fully thaw out and check for leaks... bleed the radiator at the top, then you can fire up your central heating and once again check for leaks. This freezer kit is excellent and really saves you a lot of time and trouble draining the system, as you have to attach a long pipe to the lowest drain point of the system which then has to be run outside of the house to get rid of all the water. Trust me it is not fun and takes ages, then it takes ages to refill the system, this kit is SO much easier !Hope this helps !
