Solid product - can’t give 5 starts bc the screw is too short for the latest version of the bottomless portafilter from La marzocca that came with the mini. Otherwise, it’s a tank and may work well for you.

This thing is built like a tank. You can feel the weight of it, which helps to make sure it doesn't move as you are tamping.

I have tried many variations of this product and this is by far the best, very functional and ease of use. Highly recommend.

Exactly what I was looking for and leagues better than the Normcore holder/tamping station. Solid hunk of stainless steel that’s not going to move or slip, and they included 2 different size ring inserts to account for variations in portafilters. The larger insert holds my ECM bottomless portafilter perfectly snug, while the thumb screw pivot adjusts easily to balance the heavy counterweight at the end of the handle. The thumb screw is knurled and also has a knurled nut to lock it in position. Very nice touchesTolerance, fit, finish are all solid. The c-rings are snug, bottom pad is snug. Nothing is overly tight or loose. Stainless finish is solid as well; no burrs or sharp edges, light machine marks on inside edges, consistent brushed finish everywhere else. If I had to nitpick, I’d prefer no logo on the front but it’s at least laser etched and subtle. Again, nice touchesThe thing isn’t going anywhere unless I want it to. Super stable while also remaining mobile - you can move it anywhere on your countertop while also not being limited to the edge of a counter like with tamping matsThe normcore one wasn’t adjustable and wouldn’t hold my portafilter without the counterweight making it fall. This adds adjustability while still looking pretty sleek. The entire thing is well thought out - for example, there is no bottom. This 1) requires less metal and is easier to manufacture and reduces cost while also 2) making the entire thing easier to clean. The silicone pad completes the bottom and makes cleanup easy, and makes it non-slip.Not that Normcore is the “standard” (same stuff out of China), but this is significantly better design, quality, and functionality at a very competitive price. The Normcore portafilter holder/tamping station is $45, the same cost as the aluminum version of this. And the steel version of this one is only $20 more which imo is extremely worth itAbsolutely zero complaints. My one concern is ease of sourcing replacement c-rings as they wear out, but they seem to be made of a high durometer molded around a metal insert; I don’t think they’ll wear out any time soon.

This holds the portafilter perfectly making taming a breeze. Easy to clean up too.

This stainless portafilter holder is a bludgeoning weapon! It's sooooo solid and heavy! And along with the rubber base as grip, its mass firmly plants it on your counter as you use it to prep and tamp your portafilter. It does not move when I power-tamp. Other holders I've used are slight, shift around, and too easy to tilt or are not adjustable enough. The design has an industrial aesthetic and the brand label is subtle enough to not be seen. Guests have been drawn to it, not knowing what it is and even more perplexed when I ask them to lift it. It's a perfect fit for my Bosco portafilter with the installed ring, but a thinner ring is provided as for wider filters like my Cimbali.

I have been looking for some time for a new tamping station to complement my ECM Esspresso machine and Coffee grinder, I had come across the Aluminium version but was undecided untill I found this Stainless steel version it ticked all the boxes, very heavy, silver finish. This unit is a real beast, tipping the scales just over 1.6klo beautifully machined with a silicone cap fitting on the bottom which is easily removed for cleaning. The unit comes with 2 hard plastic rings that fit in the top of the unit, depending on your size of your portafilter. I have a ECM portafilter which is 58.5mm so on the big side. I have used the ring that it came fitted with. It is a snugfit but the portafilter sits in the unit without any movement at all. After tamping I hold the handle of the portafilter and rest my thumb on the lip of the unit and give a slight wiggle up and out it comes. With the shear weight of the unit there is no movement when removing my portafilter. My portafilter has a downward facing handle which fits nicely through the slot with plenty of adjustment for the set screw to be wound up to hold the handle. The knurled locking ring was tightened up with a pair of long nose pliers to tightly secure the height adjustment screw. It was a bit on the pricey side but I will never have to buy another one again. This really is a awesome product. Do yourself a favour you won't be disappointed.

I have the Aluminum version, which I chose only because it is black, and Im happy with how heavy the piece is with it being aluminum. It works for my tamping needs, as I am using the latest 2024 version of the Ascaso portafilters, both double spout and the bottomless. The fit is pretty tight where you almost have to squeeze it in, bit it does stay level, which is what is important.

At first I thought I had received the 58mm model rather than the 54mm. Despite the listing stating that it fits breville machines the slot is not deep enough to use the support screw at the bottom, you have to remove it. When you remove it you'll find that they didn't bother to deburr that hole either. Support was quick to respond to my enquiry but not very helpful. It seems like these are known issues to them.I will say that other than deburring that hole the finish is very nice. I have the SS dosing funnel that clips onto the outside of the portafilter and it almost fits inside so I'll probably increase the opening slightly with my Dremel and make that work. With the dosing funnel on the weight balances more forward so lacking that screw support shouldn't be so bad.
