This corner chisel works pretty well. I tested it out with holes drilled with and against the grain. For the blind hole drilled with the grain, the corner chisel did a great job at creating 90 degree corners. I just needed to use a pair of needle nose pliers to remove the waste. I tried a thru hole drilled against the grain and that was a bit rough. I basically pushed the wood fibers down instead of slicing through them. The chisel probably needs to be sharpened as the factory edge wasn't that great. The size is nice for smaller holes or if you need to clean up a round corner from a CNC / router. It will get occasional use for me but it's not going to be the tool I break out every time.

This is definitely the dullest out-of-the-box chisel I have ever come across .You'll need to invest a fair amount of sharpening work to acquire a decent edge .Even if it arrived with a decent cutting edge , I think 15 bucks would be a more logical price .New chisels always need some fine tuning of the cutting edge , and of course maintenance sharpening , but this one is kinda silly dull out of the packaging .

So I an just starting my wood working journey and have a project where I will be making a lot of mortise and tenon joints. That said, I'm no expert, but this corner chisel will do for following/setting some reference lines that you can then use in combination with a flat chisel to remove wood into. It also would help in engraving and cutting a "V" grove (picture). The chisel is pretty short and because of that it will probably be a bit of a pain to keep sharp. It doesn't come with that all important sharpest edge so you will need to spend a little time to take it to the next level. There are some good video's on how to sharpen corner chisels on the internet. My understanding is that corner chisels aren't used much, but when you need it it's there.

First, you're going to need to sharpen this, and will need some files for the inside angle. There's almost no edge to it. The good news is it's made of carbon steel, so it sharpens pretty easily. There's a metal cap on the end of it, so striking it is no problem. The handle is a rubber one, with some ridges for grip though I don't know why they stopped halfway down the handle. Technically, you shouldn't need one of these for corners, but it's convenient to have it to true up the right angle once it's cut. It's a decent utility chisel.

Yes you can use a regular chisel for corners but why when you dont have to? This ensures clean crisp corners every time at 90 degrees. The chisel is sharp and works out of the box. It’s sturdy with a good area to hit it without mushrooming. It’s for wood of course.

Like many chisels, giving it a few passes on a wet-stone or diamond block will give you a much better experience for its maiden voyage, and this is a little tricky due to the right-angle design. That said, I really did not spend much time sharpening it before its first use and it was very effective on some pine that needed square-cornered hinge-recesses putting in it. Nice end to the handle for hammer use, and the grip had a good rubber feel to it which allowed for a safe hold when hammering.

This is not a forever tool, it’s an inexpensive corner chisel so you can chop square corners for your routed grooves. This tool requires knowledge and sharpening gear to sharpen and prepare the edges and cannot be used as received.
