Your cart is empty.The Irwin Tools 1819362 Marples High Impact Chisel 3-Piece Set is designed for durability. These chisels are designed for Prying, Rough Notching, Lap Joints, and Demolition. The blades are made of Solid-forged 100 Carve (chrome vanadium) Steel and are Hardened and Tempered for a sharper, long lasting cutting edge. The Blades are hardened to 1-Inch of the bolster to allow for continuous sharpening when needed without the loss of any blade strength or durability. The High Impact Chisels have a Fully Forged Steel Core for increased strength and durability and an Extra Large strike cap that withstands repetitive hammer strikes. These Chisels also has a ProTouch over-mold grip for comfort and control, two primary factors when using a chisel. The body of the handle is made of Splitproof Acetate for superior durability. The three piece set includes a 1/2-Inch, 3/4-Inch and 1-Inch Chisel.

I had an old set of Stanley wood chisels that were in need of replacement. I spotted the Irwin set on Amazon and put them on my wish list. My wonderful wife was nice enough to get them for my birthday. When I held the unopened package, I couldn't help but be surprised by the weight of the Irwin set. While the blades are the same size as the set I was replacing (plus a couple of sizes I didn't have), the tools themselves were much larger than my Stanleys. This will make them much easier to handle and will give me more leverage when I use them. The design and workmanship of the chisels are outstanding. I highly recommend them.

The chisels are very sharp out-of-the-box. The handles are comfortable, and the chisels overall have a nice, solid feel to them during use. The supplied storage unit and edge guards complete the package.This is an excellent chisel set.

Los formones me gustaron porque tienen un muy buen filo y además los materiales con los que están hechos se ven y se sienten muy resistentes. El maletín para transportarlos también de muy buena calidad. Están un poco más pesados que otras marcas que he tenido oportunidad de usar. Valen la pena.

It is a little shocking these chisels don't have 4.5 or higher rating. If you read the reviews you will notice many of the 4/5 star reviews are people who have no complaints but still give it 4-stars. These chisels are exceptionally well-made. When I took to finding the right chisel set for my first time (newer to fine woodworking but no stranger to tools and their quality) I wanted a set that was good enough to produce a respectable finish while also being durable enough so when I do make the move to an expensive professional set (like the Stanley Sweathearts who are made by the same company) I could still make use of this set. These fit the bill perfectly and exceeded expectations. Even the case they come in is durable and high quality. I appreciated the extra edge protectors that come on each chisel. There are comparable sets but many of them include a size chisel or two that are uncommon. This set is no fluff and no BS. The full tang construction, quality grip and balance, sharp edge, and uniquely stout striking cap are all, by themselves, good reasons to invest in this set. Combined together I can see little reason not to buy these chisels (whether you are building furniture or replacing door jambs) unless you plan to buy a $200+ set of professional fine-grade chisels. Excellent value and excellent quality.

I needed the chisels quickly to work on installing a new deadbolt lock and was pleased that I received the tools in the two days promised. For quality, it's hard to beat this set. They are beautiful to look at and easy to grip. Each chisel is held in place with no chance of them falling out of the nice looking case, which closes up completely. The tip of each tool fits into a shield so that there's little chance of cutting yourself. The only reason I gave the set 4 starts instead of five is because of the way the set is packaged. Each tool is fastened by a strong plastic tie which goes through holes the back of the case so each has to be cut loose which seems overkill given how well the tools are secured even without the extra shipping restraint ties. The first time I used them I hadn't noticed the restraints so it was back into the kitchen for a pair of scissors.My guess is that I will be using these for many years, given the quality.

I am not a woodworker by profession, but it has been a hobby of mine for over 15 years. Over the years, i went through cheap discounted store brand (Job Alot) to Hardware store named brand such as Irwin or Husky or Stanley or Dewalk. I can tell the difference between the Stanley vs the cheapo brand. But when I picked up the Irwin, it just feels right. The chisel stayed very shop through out my first project and the way this is constructed, when hitting it with the same force, it seems to drive a little deeper and clearner.Like I said, I am no export, but I do like this a lot.

Negative:They should be sharper out of the box.Positives:I've only used these chisels once, but am very happy with them. So far, they seem very sturdy and I really like the grips. I thought I would prefer a wood handle after ordering another set of chisels that had a non-wood handle. However, I find the IRWIN handles to be very comfortable. I was really impressed with IRWIN's packaging. Each chisel had its own slot in the case and a plastic cap to protect the tips. Each slot has two elastic bands to hold each chisel securely. In addition, each chisel is zip tied to the case when it first arrives to prevent them from moving around. The zip tie goes around the chisel through the back of the case. The only reason I can see buying a new case would be if I want to buy the two bigger models of chisels that match these. This is a great idea to prevent them from moving around during shipping. IRWIN either responded to customer complaints or had a smart packaging engineer that ran into a problem of receiving chisels that were all scratched up and chipped due to shipping. I had this exact problem with another set of chisels I bought. Great packaging IRWIN.
