My door bell broke, was hoping a new transformer would be the solution, but it wasn't. No complaints about transformer, just disappointed that it wasn't the answer to my problem.

Bought what I thought was going to be a Craftmade T1610 Transformer, 16v, 10VA from ELECTRIC VOLTAGE.First, the item was late. I looked past that since I was in no hurry. When I finally received it, I opened the box and the box inside appeared as if it had been sitting on a shelf for 25+ years. The cardboard was worn, the white on it was yellow from age, and the box was even ripped open. The transformer inside was NOT a Craftmade transformer. It was an Emerson 16v, 10VA with two leads for hot and neutral (both black, polarity doesn't matter). No grounding lead. Again, I gave it the benefit of the doubt and tried to use it since it was the voltage and wattage I needed for a doorbell I have. Hooked it up, nothing. No voltage across the terminals. Even checked the 120v to make sure. Everything fine on the primary side.Packed it up and will be returning. Buyer beware. Last time I will be buying from an Amazon vendor.

I installed a new doorbell system (Ring) that shows a picture of who is at the door on my phone; I replaced the old chime; both systems needed more voltage than was provided by the existing transformer; replacing the old one was very easy after taking safety precautions of turning off the circuit breaker.It even comes with the nut to attach it to the box; that was a pleasant surprise as I expected it to just hand there.

The transformer I received did not have the proper mounting clip for the round hole in my 120V cover plate. I tried to bend it to make it work and the mounting clip snapped off so I had to use epoxy and glue the transformer to the cover plate. The installation instructions are also horrible. The only good point is that it works. The open circuit voltage is 18.5 VAC.

Easy to install and was a perfect replacement for a unit burned out by a vandalized button that stuck on. I would have gladly paid more for a US made model, but those don't seem to exist any more.

got new doorbell so got this to replace the 50 year old one. works great. my kid is an electrician and she had to refer to the instructions one time, but those were clealy written so no problems.

My PTX1201 is about 20 years old and has been running steady for the past 20 years. I was loosing power often since the clock would have to be reset every time. I put this unit in and it stayed steady. Not too often you need to replace these units but again it's been burning 24/7 365 x 20+ years. I actually sent the radio/cassette unit in to be rebuilt as well. Capacitors were weak and causing a major hum on 5 PTX 1200 units as well.
