I crush a few of these little treats in my pups prescription dog food - incentive to eat. It works and the little cubes are easy to crush.

These PAWUP Freeze Dried Beef Liver dog treats are shipped inside of a plastic container with a screw lid on the top. Prior to your first use, you'll have to remove the air-tight seal across the mouth of the container. I'm glad that these dog treats are sealed in an air-tight container, as they do have a definite "liver" smell, even detectable by my not-that-good nose, that I'd hate to waste just dissipating into the air.As soon as I even got near the dog, she knew right away that I had "something" in or on my hands. At that point, it was just the smell of handling a few of the chunks ... I didn't have any actual chunks in my hand. Suffice it to say that she loved the treats ... and watched me especially attentively ... waiting to see if there might more coming her way. At least for this particular dog, these treats clearly make training ... and just plain "rewarding" ... much easier. The label of these treats states that the treats are made from "100% Beef Liver." I wish I knew how to test that claim for sure, but I don't. I like the fact (at least I hope it's a "fact") that these treats don't have a bunch of "additives" that I don't know about and can't pronounce. The treats do smell like liver, at least to me. They're "freeze-dried," which I thought might be "too dry" for Puppers, but she didn't seem to mind at all. She's a small dog, so I simply broke up a few of the chunks into smaller pieces.I was wondering about "soaking" these treats in water ... this Amazon listing says that you can "sink in water" these treats. It didn't seem to make any difference to the dog, and in their freeze-dried state, they were easier to manage when I simply left them dry. Clearly, being freeze-dried, these treats will last longer than if they were "wet." And, with Puppers' enthusiastic assistance, I'm not at all concerned that the treats will "last" long enough to spoil. The label on the container instructs to make sure that your dog has access to fresh water when using these treats, and to supervise your dog at all times. These treats come in 1/2 inch cubes, and are completely dry (freeze dried.) I can see that if a dog got into these treats and "woofed down" too many of them too fast, they could gag or choke. And even though these treats are described as "dog treats," I can also see how your other carnivorous pets, like cats, would love to indulge in these treats.

So far, so good. Dogs LOVE them!! Granted, I don’t have super picky eaters. But I can tell how well they like treats based on how much “work” (wait, spin, try new commands) they’re willing to do. I have found if it’s something they’ll eat, but aren’t that excited about - they both seem to think, “Not worth it. I’m going to torment the cat anyway.” But if I have one of these in my hand, I can say “Leave it,” and they’ll both just lay down, focus on me and forget the cat. Speaking of the cat, he does like these, too. Not enough to even act like he hears commands, though. I actually like these better than other freeze dried treats we’ve gotten for years, bc they’re much smaller pieces. That’s perfect for training! The bigger pieces usually crumble when and if I can make them smaller. We always end up wasting so much (or at least not being able to use as training rewards bc it becomes a topping for their regular food). I need high value rewards in small training sizes and that’s what these have turned out to be.

These treats are great for satisfying the bone requirement of raw diets. They're amazing for "brushing" a dog or cat's teeth in a natural way...IMO, much more natural than Greenies or similar prodcucts that are synthetic. Both my dogs and cats love these treats. Since they're freeze-dried, they're lightweight and easier to chew than raw chicken bones. Plus, they're already cut into bite-sized pieces! My only concern about these treats is that they're produced in China.

He gets a couple per day. Good source of fiber for a canned food cat.

My dog likes turkey necks and my cat is on a chicken only diet (food allergies) so I got these for both of them. The cat had a really hard time because they are too hard for her to chew into smaller pieces or break pieces off of. The dog ate them all!

The smell of these is like a pet store it’s not as bad as people say it is, it’s healthy for them and cleans their teeth
