We were not able to use this for our fans. Because our fans did not have three wires. There are 3 other fans in the house that had this item installed. Why this house had 3 fans with 3 wires and 3 fans with 2 wires I do not know.

So far I have installed two of these and they are working perfectly with my fans. I bought 3 of these from Lowes who has them on sale for under 10usd a piece(until 6/23/2016). The third one I bought was obviously returned as it didn't have the screws or wire nuts. For the price I wasn't worried about it. Turns out medium and high don't work on that one. I don't know if the previous owner installed it incorrectly and burned it up or if it was faulty from the mfg.I like the fact that the fan controls are harder to move than the light control, keeps you from accidentally changing the fan speed when you want to adjust the light. I have 60watt equiv LED bulbs in all of the fixtures and the dimmer works fine with them.Installing this was super easy on one of my fans as it already had the proper wiring in place and connected. On my two other fans the wiring was in place, but I had to remove the fans to connect it properly. This took extra time but I'm so glad that the installers had the forethought to install the proper wiring to the fans to have the dual switch/control.I hope these work for a long time but they don't feel as sturdy as the switches that I removed. Time will tell.

We just bought a Harbor Breeze fan at Lowes (#0044622) and it came with a wireless remote. Not a big fan of the wireless remote because you either can't find the remote or the oddball battery can go dead. I bought this wired wall switch, also at Lowes and installed it today. Instructions are clear but I've done it before so I know what I'm doing, basically you need 120v (12-2) at the fan box and a 3 wire (12-3, plus ground) to the wall switch. Easy to figure out from there. Works like a charm.

We live 180 miles from the nearest store. Bought 4 fans and these controls for our new house with Lowes salesman recommendation. Upon reading directions find that fan #0331107 is NOT compatible with a solid state variable speed control, which this is. Called Lowes/Harbor Breeze help line. Nope can't use them together. Very unhappy.
