Could not find this at Napa, AutoZone… nowhere for this old school induction spark plug wire tester. No disconnecting spark plugs and fitting awkward extensions over plugs… just touch to a spark plug or spark wire that’s supposed to be firing… if its good, this will light up with each spark. Super useful tool!

Flash is only visible in dim light ONLY. The flash is so slight that it is only visible if the any light is almost distinguished. Lisle is a fantastic company and I have used their tools for years and will continue to purchase their tools as needed. This is not a reflection on the company but a reflection on this tool only.

Very easy to tell if spark is getting through wires or not. Just set against the wire with the vehicle cranking or running and it will flash as spark is detected. Very simple and effective tool to use. I have to use it almost once a day.

Big help finding out what was wrong on my 93 Buick LeSabre, found out the cylinder #6 wire was not firing. So i changed the plug and the plug wire still not firing so changed the Ignition Coil and WORKS. Thought for sure it was the fuel injection but the way it was running (chugged) but missed a little bit. The Coil was real easy to change (2 bolts) the # 3 on the coil did fire but #6 on the same coil did not. The other 2 coils (3 total) were good. Very simple to use, dropped a star because I dropped it and the light bulb went out and No replacement that I know off so I need to buy another one.

Works as it should but if you have a pre HEI (1974 and older car/truck) ignition system the light isn't as bright. I tried it on my John Deere mower and it was brighter than my old car. Plus on the mower it was more continuous cause it only has 2 cyl to fire.

Works by induction; lets you see - by way of stronger or weaker flash - power from coil through wires to plugs.Check coil wire, and each plug wire, with out need to remove plugs or plug wiresYou will need other tools to get more specific results for specific parts; This tester is handy for glovebox or general tool box,Example: I found on my V8, one wire/plug weak, and on the other side, excessive crossover (power jumping through one wire shield to adjacent wires) and from the coil wire to two plug wires,Added some additional wire spacer-clips and tied coil wire away from other wires, pull the offending plug and clean,That is all I need until the next scheduled tuneup. For the price, this is a "gotta have" for the toolbox.
