I bought this for controlling our Christmas lights and despite reading the instruction manual (which was less than straightforward), the device would not work. The housing feels fragile and cheap. The buttons would light up and the display would show what it should but the plug would not power the lights. I thought about returning it and just buying a new one but with how poorly constructed the product is, I decided to go with a still cheap but effective black and decker product from Home Depot.

I use 2 of these timers for outdoor decorative lighting. I like the way it attaches very much: Instead of a clunky block that inserts into the outlet -- and possibly blocks the second outlet with its bulk -- this unit has a single plug with a short cord. You insert the plug and then can hang the timer to enhance screen visibility. I wish all my indoor timers were the same! The unit comes on when it should, shuts off when expected, and the waterproofing seems very sound.

Finally, an easy to program controller. Super tough design, this won't break like all those analog timers end up doing due to cheap plastic gears. I have two of these.

This is a great unit and works as designed. That being said, the programming is a bit hard to manage, and the buttons don't give much positive confirmation that they've been pressed. The main gripe is that if you are inside the "on" window when you program it, the unit will not switch on until the following day, once it has gone through an "off" cycle and back into an "on" cycle. In other words, it won't seem to pickup on an "on" command part way through an "on" cycle. So, program it at least 1 day before you need it to be operational, or program it when it will be in an "off" mode, and you'll be fine from there on out. But it would make changing the schedule difficult down the road.

This is a double outlet timer. It has options for several different settings. Easy to set up.

It took a while to figure out how to program, and some understandable instructions would be really helpful. Once we got the timer figured out though, it’s been great. Our flag spotlights come on at dusk and shut off around dawn so there’s no electric waste, and our flag pole is correctly illuminated. No issues (after a month of use) with any weather related issues (heat, rain, wind, etc).

I bought two timers for my Christmas lights at my local hardware store and was very disappointed. They did not have the basic feature of "time on" "time off." These are amazingly simple and work perfectly. You set your time. Then set time on and time off. You can do more complex things like dusk to dawn but why bother ? They worked perfectly despite being exposed to sun and water. Very pleased.

I've tried almost every timer on the market. This is the only one that's held up over the years and I currently have 6 of them. There is a cheaper unit available which I've seen in the big box stores but the cheaper unit doesn't have the timezone/dusk feature. This unit is MUCH better than the slightly cheaper one.The ONLY thing I don't like about this unit is that it doesn't have some type of weatherproof cover on it. I basically poke a hole in plastic bag, slide down over the cord, and then put a bit of tape where the bag meets the cord. That way, when it's plugged in and hanging down from the outlet, the unit is fully covered by the plastic bag and no water gets into the unit.If you're ok with making your own weatherproof cover for the unit, it's a very solid 5 out of 5 !
