This "kind of" does the job of holding my portafilter in place so that I can tamp it. Unfortunately, I feel like the adjustable piece that can be raised / lowered is not tall enough. If I try to raise it up to the ideal height for my 54 mm Breville portafilter, the piece just comes unscrewed because it has reached its height limit too soon. As a result, although it more or less supports my portafilter at its maximum height, it is still just a little bit short of perfection and so my portafilter slants ever so slightly rather than being held firmly and stably in a level position, as it should be. So while I think this would probably be compatible with some sizes and styles of portafilters, it is not quite right for mine.

I have a Normcore spouted portafilter that doesn't sit flat on the counter and tamping on the edge of the counter is a bit tenuous. I purchased this portafilter holder to aid in tamping. It works great. The portafilter has a heavy handle, so it tips a bit toward the handle if you don't hold the handle. It will sit fine in the holder without holding it and when you take the handle to tamp the coffee, it provides a firm, steady base on which to use my spring tamper with a 30 lb spring in it.

This device has saved my tabletop! LoL!! I can't say how many surfaces I've ruined while tamping my espresso... this thing completely removes that anxiety! It can be used with many sizes. The adjustable screw for handle-sizes makes for perfect fits without any wobbling while tamping. Strong, sturdy, solid, and heavy-weighted. Highly recommended.

This is a surprisingly substantial tool, it has heft as it is crafted from heavy aluminum, and is very finely milled, so it looks good too. I was expecting it to be some kind of plastic, but it’s got mass. It also looks and feels good. The aesthetic is part of the ritual with espresso, and this portafilter holder has it…. I’m using it for my office espresso machine which uses a 51mm portafilter. It fits perfectly. I adjusted the height at which the handle sits slightly with the adjustable screw and now the portafilter sits balanced and even. This makes getting a good press on the coffee so much easier and faster once it’s dialed in, which is perfect for my office machine as i don’t have time to fiddle with my coffee for too long. I wasn’t sure i needed a portafilter holder, making espressos at home for years without one, but it is now definitely something I prefer. It’s well made, and is discrete, does not take up a lot of floor space on the counter. The tacky rubber around the base and around the top against which the portafilter ears rest is thin, but functional. The only complaint is that the top ring was over-glued, but that was easily removed. Otherwise, no complaints at all. I highly recommend this item for those who something solid against which to tamp their grind.

Works well if I remove the handle bumper…This holder is constructed well of powder-coated aluminum. It is small enough to tuck away in a drawer or cabinet fairly well. It works as it should as long as the portafilter in use fits the designed size. I think it should work for most “normal” portafilters, but if you have one that is specific to a machine or has a unique design, it may not fit.The 51 mm portafilter I have has the handle very low relative to the basket, the basket sticks up above the handle quite a bit. The issue this creates is that the basket is too high and won’t sit flush to the top of the holder because the handle is already touching. It rocks on the rubber bumper. If I remove the bumper, it all works well, but then I can’t take advantage of the bumper and the stability it lends.That being said, once I took the bumper off, this holder works great. Overall, if you’re looking for a small portafilter holder for 51-54 mm basket, this is a good, solid option.

Hoping that this would fit the Ninja Luxe Café specific design of their portafilter.Unfortunately, it doesn't and is too shallow for the longer portafilter's length.The 54mm should fit, but is too wide also.No fault to the design of this portafilter holder, but can't recommend.
