This non-tilt block and tackle channel balance is constructed of a mill-finished steel U-frame housing. The internal working components include a spring, cord and pulley system, but the plastic top and bottom guide shoes must be selected separately as they are not included with the balance itself. These window counter balances are used to counter-weight the moving sash on single and double hung vinyl windows. If your windows (sashes), are having problems staying up when opened, it may be that your sash balances or hardware needs to be replaced. The sash balances hold the weight of the window pane, over time, the springs can wear out or fail. Replace your sash balance for a smoother operation of your window and allow fresh air to enter your home with a window that stays open.

This window balance has an aluminum channel housing. It features a heat treated, high tension steel spring and is 5/8 in. wide. It is designed for use on 16 to 23 lb. sash windows.

Exact match to my 20 year old windows. Ordered plastic caps separately. Very happy I found these and I can open my windows again! Pictures left to right, this product, original, and broken original.

Exactly the part I needed to repair the windows in my home. Cost was significantly less than through any other source, and there were only a few places that offered these parts.These are not plug and play pieces, and you will need the plastic ends as they do not come with them. Additionally, the end caps are held in with a rivet so you may not be able to remove the old ones to reuse them. The replacement ends don't come with the tool to affix the rivet but a hammer and screw driver will do the trick.To sum up. Great product but make sure you order the replacement end pieces as well or you will not be able to complete the job.
