I purchased this alarm to put outside of our sump pump to ensure we are alerted if it fails. It's so sensitive that even a drop of water sounds the alarm. This is a crucial safety alarm for the home because it's unsafe to step into a basement that has been unknowingly flooded.

The positive is that it does work, and let me know of a tripped gfi on my sump pump.The negative is that I can't be sure how well it will last. The unit is cheaper plastic that is snapped together.Only time will tell on its longevity.

Item appears to work fine - however AMAZON Sent me USED item when I ordered new!!!!!I create RODI water for the aquariums sometimes the water overflows, this will help me when notice when the water is about ready to fill. (If take hours to fill a 55 gallon drum.I tested by slowly lowering the sensor towards the water. I will update this as needed.

I use this alarm in my basement, right next to my sump pump. If the pump fails and water starts coming in the alarm will activate early before major flooding. Providing I am home at the time. Well worth the money.
