About this item

  • PATENTED DUAL-POSITION SEATPOSTS – The patented Redshift Dual-Position Seatpost for bicycles allows you to switch between two seatpost positions: road and triathlon positions while riding your bike. Innovative bike accessories optimized for triathlon and long distance riders.
  • SWITCH FROM ROAD TO AERO POSITION – The Dual-Position bike seatpost allows you to switch between road and aero positions on the fly during your ride. Transform the road bike you already own into a triathlon riding position for proper fit with aero bars.
  • RIDE WITH EASE MORE COMFORTABLY – The key to riding comfortably is proper positioning of your bike saddle. This bike seatpost allows you to ride with a proper aero bike fit on a standard road bike, so you can ride faster and more comfortably.
  • ENSURES PROPER LEG EXTENSION – This seatpost for bikes is designed to maintain the same pedal-to-saddle length in both positions, ensuring proper leg extension in the road and aero riding positions.
  • COMPATIBLE WITH – The seat post is 27.2 mm in diameter by 350 mm in length. Shims (sold separately) can be used to adapt the seatpost to bikes with larger seatpost diameters. The bike seat post accepts saddles with standard round 7 mm saddle rails.

The patent pending Redshift Sports 2-position seat post allows you to switch your saddle between a normal road bike position and a time trial position as set up on a triathlon bike while driving. The steeper effective angle between saddle and tube bar opens your hip angle and maintains a reasonable leg extension, which makes you ride comfortably and powerfully in the time trial position. Are you driving a long flat track with headwind? Push the saddle forward and lie in the aerodynamic time trial position that beats a snip to the wind. Torturing yourself on a steep climb? Slide the saddle back and switch comfortably to the road bike position. The seat post is designed to maintain the same distance between saddle and pedal in both positions, ensuring adequate leg extension in the road bike and time trial position. Because some riders prefer more forward tilt of the saddle while riding in the aerodynamic time trial position, the seat post also has an additional adjustment that tilts the saddle forward up to five degrees when you switch from the road bike to the time trial position. The mechanism is completely stable in both positions - a spring-loaded stop keeps it securely in place until you decide to change your position. The 2-position seat post - in combination with the Redshift Sports quick-release aerole handlebar grips (not included). - puts you in a truly integrated aerodynamic time trial position without compromising your normal road bike setup. The seat post is constructed from an aviation grade 6061-T6 aluminium alloy. The tube has a diameter of 27.2 mm and a length of 350 mm. With clamps (not included), the seat post can be adapted to bikes with larger saddle tube diameter. The seat post is suitable for saddles with standard 7mm round saddle frame. The seat post weighs 400 g including all components.

Got this for my bike and it makes a huge difference in riding comfort. You can adjust the spring on it, but you have to remove the whole stem to do it. I tried a Thudbuster, but this one was definitely a lot better at cushioning my butt than the Thudbuster. Don't know why I didn't get one 5 years ago.

Cannot comment on reliability and durability as I just got it. Noted a big improvement in my comfort with aerobars with the ability to bring seat forward and upward. No issue getting the seat to go backwards from forward position. However, I have to stop the bike and move seat from back to forward position. maybe in time I will develop a technique to move seat forward without having to stop bike. If you have aerobars, this seatpost should be considered, despite the high price.

I wasn’t quite convinced to the quality and effectiveness of this production till I installed it and tried on. First of all , this device never shifts accidentally between 2 positions; however , when you are ready to switch , you can do it easily and on the fly. I am really taken aback how easily I can move between 2 positions without straining, wiggling and etc . Secondly , it servers it’s purpose well. As, I am adjusting my road bike to use it for my first 70.3 distance triathlon, this seat post postions my body in comfortable aero position. When I get off the bike, I feel like my legs are less fatigue and I can transition to running easilier. I now feel more optimistic about my first 70.3.Redshift is a great option for people that are either on budget or don’t want to own seprate road and tri bike.

This is an AWESOME seat post! I took it with me to get installed during my bike fit and the man who did my fit was very impressed and excited to put it on my bike. I have since ridden it indoors on my Kickr trainer and practiced moving it forward and back. I do have to grab the front of it and yank to get it to move forward but moving back is a breeze. However, I like the fact that it's decently difficult to move front and back so then you don't accidentally move it mid-ride. All in all, I'm EXTREMELY impressed, this is very well made.

First off, I spend about 50-60% of my time in the Aero position. The problem with that is, if you have a good Aero position on your bike, you will have a terrible upright posture while riding on the hoods. There's really no happy medium. This seat post is the answer! I upgraded to a split saddle too because a typical road bike saddle will not be comfortable with this seat post; especially in th Aero position. Needless to say, I love it. I can switch positions by pinching my thighs together and pulling up. On the fly I go from a road position to an aero position! Really worth the investment.
