This is an amazing little gun box that does exactly what it says. I had this installed from box opening to install in 10 minutes. It’s solid, secure and a great deterrent and allows me to keep my firearm in my truck full time! Great product and I highly recommend!!

This was a graduation gift for a young man just graduating from high school and about to enlist in the military. Because he would be limited in personal possessions he could take to basic training, this safe would be a great item both in size and functionality. Things like wallet, phone, watch and other small items will fit wonderfully. I also know that he will be acquiring a handgun eventually and this is a quality gun safe. (He comes from a family that are responsible gun owners.) His family members at the graduation party were very pleased and impressed with such a thoughtful gift. Yay me!

Excellent size the XXL (grab a ruler if you need visual) its made by Hornady so its quality and warranty is excellent, it's has the standard lock paddle and strong cable. (Hornady makes another box with a new lock design and it's a little smaller then this XXL box) The box is well constructed with a nice heavy steel you can screw it down from inside the bottom half tray via 4 holes for even more security. These boxs are deterrents and your best bet is to hide them out of site, it will help from smash and grabs and also just a good security for locking weapons, personal items etc when you leave your vehicle, camper, house, etc. It is also TSA airline approved.If the morons out in the world are prepared and have the time they can get to pretty much anything ,If it weren't for the morons we wouldn't need to read reviews regarding products like this. So far, so good. As a retired peace officer I am rarely without a concealed handgun on my person. However, we often travel a considerable distance to attend concerts and other events and frequently use our motor home to travel . Because some of these venues are "gun free zones", where they won't allow even off-duty or retired peace officers with CCW privileges to carry, I would have to leave my firearm in the RV or other vehicle.This simple, yet strong and effective, lock box allows me to store my firearm in the vehicle with a modicum of security and to remain in compliance with the laws in CA and other jurisdictions. When we travel considerable distances, I often bring two handguns, one full-sized and one compact, and once again this allows me to leave the second in the RV while carrying the other with less (though not no) worry. It's also large enough to hold both handguns when necessary.The included cable has allowed me to secure it to the robust frame for the jackknife sofa in the RV which in turn is bolted to the vehicle frame. It's out of sight and though not impregnable would take a considerable amount of time for someone to find and open or remove.

Not much to say about this. It's big, roomy, and solid. This is VERY nice for those of us who like to carry a full-size pistol, as well as a spare magazine or two, and need to be able to lock all of that up securely for brief storage in our vehicles. Also, this is a slightly deeper/taller lockbox, so it has the added benefit of being able to fit the gun AND the holster together in there, which adds an extra degree of safety: taking your pistol off or putting it on WITH the holster as a single unit, the trigger stays covered and thus it makes for safer handling when you're putting on/taking off your firearm inside your vehicle. There are also holes already pre-drilled in the lockbox, in case you want to bolt the thing down in a trunk or whatever (a very good idea, if you have the option).Just a side note, because this is slightly taller/wider/longer than most pistol safes, you might not be able to fit this under your car seat. I do fortunately have lots of room under the seats of my Ford Focus, but in other vehicles, even the standard lockboxes are a tight fit under there. So, check the dimensions and see how much room you have BEFORE you order.

A little more slimline than my Sentry Safe lock box. Not quite as big. I would call this a standard lock box. Not sure what you would even put in the smaller versions. It fits my smith and Wesson 686SSR midsize revolver (in holster) a two speedloader belt pouch and a box of .357 ammo. Sure I could cram more small things in there, but I bought it for that exact combo so it works.Let's get a few things straight though. Lock boxes are NOT SAFES! They can be broken into with the right tools and a little finesse OR be beaten, ripped apart pried open by force. The same could be said of many safes. It reminds me of having a locker in highschool with a pad lock on it. Lockers got broken into, but without even the simple deterrent of a thin metal door and a $5 lock much more would get stolen.I have seen a lot of reviews that people can "break into lock boxes easy". Yes break in... That's the point. I can kick open a front door or crowbar it open to rob, same goes for breaking a car window. A lock box should be out of sight on top of a high shelf, or under/ behind something. Cover and concealment matter a lot with anything you want to have a degree of safety.Why 4 stars? Well the hinge on every lock box I have seen is on the outside of the box. Think of doors in your house... Hinges are on the inside... WHY? Because if they were on the outside you could tap the pin out with a screwdriver and hammer. Same with this box you can tap the pin out with a wire hanger and some of that finesse I mentioned. If the hinge was on the inside your left only with bash, pry open or try and pick the lock.Overall its made to keep small children and teens away from your guns and other goodies. Its a simple way to keep things under "lock and key". Its small enough to be hidden most anywhere in a house, car or office. Just remember the more secure you want something it has to be harder for a nosey person to find, thus harder to get to fast.
