This block seems to be very well built, I used it to install barrel nut and torqued to mil specs. The block just worked perfect.

Figured this to be the answer to for torquing a barrel nut, although I was able to do it, I was extremely disappointed in the play and fit on an upper. Definitely Would not recommend this for that task. Its a smithing tool and not an armorers tool

If you’re buying this you probably need to replace or install a barrel. It will work. I read in some of the other reviews that they come warped. I don’t think it’s warped it just doesn’t fit how it’s supposed to fit. It’s kind of like a “see-saw” on the upper. No clue what kind of upper was used to mold this. May have been an older thinner A1 upper. Only one side will clamp together at a time. I’ll be modifying mine so it works like it’s supposed to.

This gunsmith vice block is a must-have for any firearm enthusiast! It’s incredibly sturdy and holds the upper receiver securely, making maintenance and assembly a breeze. The fit is precise, and the material is durable, ensuring it can handle repeated use without any issues. A reliable tool that makes gunsmithing projects so much easier. Highly recommend!

Worked very well for holding my upper so I could remove a flash can and install a linear compensator. I rather expected that once the upper was put in, that the jig would close at the top AND bottom. Alas, it didn't and left about 3/8" open at the top. Regardless, it held tightly with no marring to the upper. Worked great and the price was right!
