Every party I use this at I get so many compliments. It is easy to use and Produces such a pretty cheese flower. I use this for my daughter’s wedding reception And it was so elegant. I order the P’tit Basque cheese here on Amazon. I cut it in half and put half on the cheese tray and refrigerate the other half. When the first one is mostly gone, I Replace it with the Other one as it works better if the Cheese is cool.

I bought this cheese curled about a month ago, and initially I was really impressed. I put the thick tête de moine on it and it made awesome cheese flowers. After the cheese started to get finer, I noticed that the pole that penetrates through the cheese started to wobble as I turned the scraper. Some uses later the cheese started to rotate with the scraper, so I took it apart and the glue that sets the steel support on the stone to keep the cheese from rotating had failed.I did manage to fix it. I went to the nearest Walmart, got some super glue, cleaned the stone and the steel part and then glued them both together. For now it is working, as in the cheese is not rotating, but to me it seems like they could have done a better job in the design. The pole is still wobbly, which means something is flexing. I suppose it's just a matter of time until something else fails. Unfortunately I did not find another stone support that was appropriate to go in the fridge, so I'm stuck with this.

The Boska Cheese Curler is very sturdy and looks very nice. I didn't use mine I returned it because after I received it I realized it has very limited use and it takes way too much space to store.

I got this for my mom for Christmas. She loves it. When Bon Apetite ran an article on it this month she called me excitedly to tell me about it because she likes it so much. None of us had ever heard of it bfore but it is actually really cool! You can make some really great little appetizers using the curled cheese (makes kind of a crinkly flower-like shape) or just eat it right off the block. To store the cheese on the curler she uses plastic wrap over the cheese wheel and then the plastic dome, which keeps it fresh. It's also very portable, so this is an easy way to volunteer to bring an appetizer to a dinner party. Fun gadget that is a bit more unique!

...but Amazon shipped a replacement immediately.Works well and looks very nice. Beautiful marble base gives it a substantial feel, and it holds the cheese in place very well.Would have awarded five stars, but for the broken handle.Amazon receives five stars for immediately shipping a replacement!

I was watching a film last week--Particle Fever--which is about...well, particles, physics, & so forth, and what should appear in one of the scenes but this wonderful contraption that I'd never seen before.Quick as a bunny, I did my research & found one I liked--with the marble base--& now I am enjoying the cutest little curly cheese bits. They melt on your toast, they look great on a little plate at a buffet. And here's the thing: you do NOT need to use fancy cheese with this. Here's what you need: something in the form of a wheel--I used smoked Gouda from Trader Joe's--& you need to make sure it's nice & cold--I left it in the fridge on the spike overnight or until it's in the low 40s F.Now you need to forget trying to force anything. Don't mash down on it, or go too fast. Heck, I forgot to cover mine & it split, but I put a big rubber band around the base & just hold it with my left hand. When you get a nice curly section, reverse direction & gently scrape it off with your fingernail or a kitchen knife.I probably will use this a lot for a little while until something else comes along to distract me, but meanwhile, this is a great little tool!!UPDATEI have now officially used the Girolle (named after the particular mushroom that the cheese curls look like) with 'Tete de Moine' cheese (which is a seasonal product--arrives in late autumn, but I got the last one just by luck.) I'm sure other cheeses like Petit Basque, or Edam will work fine, too, just as the Gouda did, but Tete de Moine rocks!Took the whole contraption with us to a party & it was a total hit! Everyone marveled at the delicate taste of the shaved curls & they look so pretty on a plate with crackers. I also made some balsamic vinegar reduction to drizzle on the plate--beautiful combination of flavors!

Very, very nice. Excellent quality. Heavier and sturdier than I was expecting. I bought one as a gift and we used it for the Superbowl party. Nice thin shavings that melted in our mouths with the cracker. Highly recommended for someone who has "everything" in the kitchen.

Honestly, I'd like to see something besides a black plastic knife handle. It's a nice handle, but the fit and finish of the rest of this device robs the handle of its handsomeness. And, that singular aesthetic concern is the one and only shortcoming. It is beautiful elegance formed into graceful function. I dare say that owning this device makes a person just want more monk's head cheese. I can tell you that it comes out at parties far more often than my fondue set, and guests seem to always be impressed by it. Sitting around a table, having wine, and putting the little rosettes on crackers; it's a great taste of the Old World. If the knife handle bothers you, just order a replacement part from another set, but I won't go without the stone base and bright stainless fixtures.
