Unlike most hedge trimmers, this has a safety handle that you squeeze instead of a shield that pushes forward/back. It has to be squeezed extremely tightly and so your forearm gets tired pretty quick. Far quicker than the rest of you will tire from actually doing the work. It pretty much requires that you defeat the safety mechanism, which really sucks.Dewalt really needs to make a 2.0 version of this thing.Anyway, after eliminating that mechanism this thing is the boss. It's great to use, although it would be cool if there was a handle attached to the blade like some of these things have.

While this is a bit heavier than a corded trimmer, the power and the cut is amazing. I had no issues “restoring” my boxwoods which had been long neglected, trimming them back almost two feet. My older trimmer would struggle. This thing goes through like a knife through butter.Next time I do my oleanders or other shrubs taller than my head, I’ll probably use a ladder to avoid sore shoulders in the morning.
