Marples Blue Chip Chisels have high impact square section blue plastic handles, radiused for a comfortable grip.
Bolster fitted blades are made from top quality carbon steel, hardened and tempered along the full length of the blade.

The box and organizer for my set of chisels came completely destroyed. One hinge is missing screws, another is completely broken off, and the organizer is in a lot of pieces. Which is a bummer, since the convenient storage box was part of why I picked this set over other similarly priced sets.The chisels themselves are intact and appear to be of good quality and sharp enough for my purposes.

First of all, the good. The chisels themselves seem to be intact and of acceptable Irwin Marples quality. As for the rest, the wooden box that the chisels came in was dinged up a bit and had a pretty severe flaw on the inside cover. The organizer holding the chisels was completely destroyed. The box was rattling before I even opened it and you can see the pieces in the picture that were broken off. Ultimately, I'll still use the chisels but I'll have to find a new storage solution which will make transporting them more difficult and necessitating further financial expenditure.

Die stecheisen kamen ziemlich Stumpf an, und waren in einem relativ spitzen Winkel geschliffen. Der Stahl scheint auch nicht der härteste zu sein, da bei spitzen Winkel (ca 25 °) die schneide nicht gut bzw nicht lang ihre Schärfe behält. Aber wenn man die stecheisen mit einem mehr gestauchten Winkel versieht wie z. B. 30 ° hält die schneide gut und auch durchaus länger ohne dass nachschärfen erforderlich ist. Für jemanden der lieber spart und etwas Arbeit investieren möchte, sind das genau die richtigen

These chisels come in a storage box and have protective covers on the edges. They are sharp out of the box but need some fine-tuning.. I use the Scary Sharp system and all the chisels will sharpen to a fine edge and cut clean and easy.

The box had to be repaired that they came in. Screws fell out of the hinges and were missing. The chisels are good.

A really rather nice set that appears to have been made by Marples of Sheffield, which are that rare thing, a British family firm with a reputation for quality. Time will tell if that holds true, but, for the price, these represent very good value for money, and the wooden case is a lovely bonus.
